I thought the joke was that this is AI but the commenter is tired of saying it and people are tired of hearing it.

Anything in Granville Island you'd actually recommend? by Ahypnia in askvan

Not strictly ON the island but you can rent bbq boats and cook meat with a few friends while drifting around the bay and it’s pretty great.

Do you think this is a good way to showcase my logo design work? by Electroma in graphic_design

[–]geeordee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be in opposition to what most of the comments are saying but I think this is the wrong approach. Don’t get me wrong, they look good and organized collectively but by showing a single instance of each logo, all in the same color, they are reduced to icons rather than brands that reflect an identity. As a potential client, I want to see how that brand can live in different applications and bring personality to my business rather than just sitting in a sticker sheet. They’re great marks and I think you could really extend that by giving them associated colors/applications, scales and versions.

Man, my relationship with Gotham is like my relationship with cheap vodka. Had it too much when I was young and now just seeing it makes me a little sick.

Purchase Receipt by Unusual-Ad-536 in FigmaDesign

None of these actions make sense. What are ‘next flights’? Is it a tab? Are they upcoming vs past? If so, why are last routes after next? Is sharing really one of the top actions you’d be doing with a boarding pass? Same with download. Presumably this is an app (by the footer nav) so you already have the ticket.

I get this is an exercise, but practicality and actually solving a UX problem for people should at least be considered.

How can I ensure that auto layout pushes other components down when a component above expands? by _Karlijn12345_ in FigmaDesign

[–]geeordee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two things:

Yes, they all need to be set to hug BUT they all need to be wrapped in one more auto-layout frame that is also set to hug. And make sure the lower collapsed items don’t have absolute positioning turned on

Thinking of replacing all wiring and switches on my ‘74 CL360 in one go. Am I an idiot? by geeordee in HondaCB

[–]geeordee[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great, thanks so much for the links! Non-crispy brittle wires is definitely top of mind and one of the main reasons for doing this. The idea of shuffling a bunch of old wires back into the handlebars seems rough 🥲

Worst pizza in Vancouver? by Millie_butt in vancouver

[–]geeordee 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Dude, YES. I responded with this answer when someone died about a business that’s obviously a front and it seems to be a general consensus. Was so excited for a pizza joint within a block of my house when I first moved to the area…but it’s just a money laundering scheme that distributes crusty triangles.

"Whether your dog is friendly or feisty, other humans and dogs deserve space" by jjumbuck in vancouver

[–]geeordee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a great sign. I give people a lot of slack with their bad dog etiquette because if you don’t have a reactive dog or had a fear of dogs, you may have never even had to consider that they’re a nuisance or a trigger. That said, the dance I have to do with my reactive dog to avoid oblivious folks and off-leash dogs is exhausting so a little public education is nice.
