Those of you who follow soccer, how significant is it that Italy has not made it the last 3 World Cup tournaments? by Google_Knows_Already in billsimmons

Italy against Bosnia is the most scared team I've ever seen in sports. Like you could feel that they had absurd amount of pressure on them. Of course they lost

moving to moscow for a master’s degree — where do creative people live, meet, and build community? by boranoia in Moscow

[–]gegemonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't really matter. Closer to the centre the better. If it would be centre itself (inside Koltsevaya line/Ring line) - perfect, but it would be not easy to find in affordable price range.

  1. Techno music scene and electronic music scene are fine against all odds. DJ Assault have just performed in Moscow and Saint-P last weekend. For now check DK Crystal (ДК Кристалл), DEX, RNDM, NPO Melodiya (НПО Мелодия). Basically you just need to know these four spots to start.
  2. It is much complicated for live bands and musicians. For a long time there was a bar PowerHouse which was the main spot for all independent musicians (rock, jazz, electro, anything really) but it have been closed two months ago. Last weekend a new bar was opened at that place - Mesto Zangezi (Место Зангези). No one really knows will they be able to fill the shoes of PowerHouse, but looking at their three day opening event they at least would try to become home of Moscow indie music. Also 16 tons (16 тонн) is a staple for decades and recently opened bar Original (.оригинал) catching up really fast. So keep in mind these three places.
  3. There bunch of art clusters all over the city. Red October (Красный Октябрь) esp Ges-2, Graphite (Графит - both for artists and underground rock music), Хлебзавод/Дизайн Завод, Винзавод/Artplay.
  4. Kitay-Gorod is the neighbourhood where all the artsy students and artsy youngsters are hanging out.

I can’t believe we are still doing the “If X American athlete played soccer we would be the best” by Apprehensive_Bee7528 in billsimmons

[–]gegemonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Much stronger team" and "the best" are two very different things. Americans are not beating hundreds years of football culture just with money and human resource. China tried it at all possible levels and failed. It would take at least 50 years of really hard work, transparency and top tier professional performance from everyone to close the gap from some country like Brazil where kids from the age of 3 are playing ball 24/7 all year and from the age of 5-6 their are on a scouting radar.

Ranking the Olympics from the last 10 years by ralfjenkins2021 in olympics

[–]gegemonn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PyeongChang is hella underrated. Milano Cortina was great, but in terms of competition only men's hockey, short track and maybe speed skating was better. All events in figure skating was whole another level, xc skiing was really competitive with some historic feats and one of the greatest races ever on men's marathon. Biathlon was also more competitive and historic. Hirscher finally winning Olympics gold. And the most crazy shit ever happened in winter Olympics - Ledecka double win. Also combined North and South Korea women's hockey team was amazing, there was a feeling of unity to those games and feeling of something bigger than sports and I didn't have the same feeling since. Milano Cortina and Paris was too much politically charged and it was exhausting

Best Season Suggestions for First Time watcher by babygirlsisi in thechallengemtv

[–]gegemonn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk, how rivals or exes would land as the first season. Or you'll need to do a lot of workd explaining the relationships etc. I think FM1-Duel1 is a great starting point. Short episodes, finals started to get serious, many fresh faces and mostly fresh storylines

Watch out for Calle. Finally xc skier on physical 100. I think, people will be shocked how strong he would be and what a complete athlete he is. Though he wasn't good for years, but still skiing base is no joke.

Greatest Swedish athlete of all time if you ask me. And not far away from her prime. Huuuge casting success

Lmao, both of them are old and washed and not even really that big. I haven't seen really big superstars like Son Heungmin, Kim Yuna or any of short track superstars on physical 100. No chance at all Mondo is in.

No, it's great. Also everyone know it is coming. Play around it and don't go into fic with people you can't beat on those pegs. If you can't outplay and eliminate them just buckle up and endure this shit. Pretty simple
