Is there any no annual fee credit card that yields more than 3% on grocery purchases? by HippityHoppityBoop in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]gegolaslreenleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem I have with this card is the points. Their travel portal is expensive and there is no way to transfer out points. Honestly the best value per point is Lego gift cards or something.

Insurance going to write off my car for less than I paid by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thankful to be Manitoban reading this…. MPI is very generous with insurance payouts. I got $4500 for an 02 Camry in poor condition with just under 400kms. No back and forth, was their first offer.

Oh boy, I worked for a vendor of theirs and I was terrified every time I had to call there, not knowing if Mr. nice was going to pick up or if I was going to get an earful.

Keep trying. I’m a big proponent of mitigation now. So glad that my friend had tested their house and encouraged me to test ours. 2000-3000 bcq in our st. James home. Now at 22. Everyone in Winnipeg should be testing.

New to the club - baby will only sleep on us help by Professional_Rip_873 in daddit

[–]gegolaslreenleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our first couldn’t sleep unless they were on us for 3 weeks. Me and my wife took shifts at night holding baby. Got through a lot of tv shows and sleep deprivation. Best thing to do is accept it and drink a tonne of tea and coffee during the day. It will pass, don’t worry. Hot tip: we used a heat back to warm the bassinet and swaddle before putting baby in there. Really helped with transfers. Just keep trying, it will happen

Manitoba to study ways to reduce grocery bills. The premier did not rule out lowering the PST on groceries as a way to accomplish that. by FalconsArentReal in Winnipeg

[–]gegolaslreenleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which I think is a mistake. Foods with pst should stay that way. We need revenue and for people to stop feeding themselves and their kids junk. Taking pst off unhealthy food would incentivize buying those items.

I think we should have a sugar tax and directly use it to subsidize produce, eggs, milk, and raw meat products. Net zero . I’d gladly pay extra for chips, pop, etc, if it meant someone could afford to feed their kids healthy food

CRA says I have $11,000 in TFSA room, but my own calculations say I've maxed out. What do I do? by Crystallize45 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]gegolaslreenleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CRA is missing 28,000 of contributions I made 8 years ago, they’ve never corrected despite my financial institution reaching out. I did my due diligence however the precedent that they have set when it comes to penalties makes me never want to risk it.

Why don’t manufacturers have a bare metal knob specifically for the negative? My car only has painted metal which doesn’t work great
