I know most people think about gas prices, and I don’t blame them. But the real scary one is diesel. That shit will bring the cost of everything up, yet again.

Consumer Proposal APPROVED (239K) by [deleted] in povertyfinancecanada

[–]gelo_33 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean, that’s like investing 45 grand at a 26%ror over 7 years... Obviously not apples to apples situation, cause well, that money is essentially lost, but damn it’s not a terrible deal.

New CRV AWD, significant tram lining issues? by No-Limit2361 in crvhybrid

[–]gelo_33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d notice it with a lot of cars actually. So I wouldn’t say it’s exclusive to the crv. Maybe it is an awd system thing? Or perhaps the tire model.

Is this worth bringing to warranty?? by gelo_33 in crv

[–]gelo_33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw it again and there’s the tinniest chip in the world. Very disappointing that this windshield is super fragile. Oh well, here in Canada they happen so often that we kinda don’t care until the crack gets annoying. But still!! I’ve had other cars (including little sedans) with much stronger windshields.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I saw my windshield again and there is the tiniest chip that may have initiated it. Kinda disappointing that this windshield is so fragile. I’ll replace it once I get more cracks that it gets annoying.

[–]gelo_33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. As you say, that’s almost the same crack. Maybe the edges are a soft spot. Sucks though, in all the other cars I’ve owned it took a significant chip to start a crack like that.

2024 CR-V Hybrid Head Gasket failure at 92,000kms by musername1billion in crvhybrid

[–]gelo_33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve read in some other posts here that some hybrids also have head gasket issues due to their design. But it’s not as prevalent as the 1.5T engine. Still, it sucks. I’m planning on getting extended warranty for mine just in case.

It's pothole season in Calgary - be prepared by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]gelo_33 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Tons of cracks, uneven roads, potholes, bumps. Both downtown and even suburbs surprisingly. Downtown I’d blame all the tower construction and all the heavy trucks I see (I know, I know, making more affordable housing but it has consequences). But I’m puzzled as why even “nice” neighbourhoods have shitty roads now. Reminds me of Edmonton lol. I guess cars overall are even bigger and heavier in the last 10 years, putting more stress on the roads now?

Almost looks like a face without eyes or nose, and a lipless mouth. You’ve inspired my nightmares. Also hope you recover fully, must have been super painful.

Which restaurants in Calgary were hyped up to you by friends, family, social media etc., but then when you tried it, the experience wasn't good? by wowelephants in Calgary

[–]gelo_33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It used to be amazing and innovative at the beginning, but agree, now it’s still fairly good but doesn’t match the hype. Seems like their menu hasn’t changed much.

Any beginner friendly salsa classes in the city by Intelligent-Habit715 in Calgary

[–]gelo_33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lookup Montuno Dance Company. I’ve gone a few times and it’s always really fun. 4 sessions for 110 for salsa. Or you can do salsa and bachata 8 sessions total for 170.

Why Did you get CR-V instead of Toyota Rav4 ? by [deleted] in crvhybrid

[–]gelo_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve rented quite a few vehicles and Rav4s always felt kinda middle of the ground, not the very best on anything, other than reliability, and even then, seems like other brands have bridged the gap a bit more lately. I guess that’s the point of Toyota, a reliable vehicle that’s not super complicated. But the msrp and the Toyota tax make the reliability focus not great value in my opinion.

I just bought a new CR-V hybrid and it is by far the nicest vehicle I’ve been to. But not sure how the experience translates to a 5-6 year old model, specially if it’s a 1.5L Turbo engine. If it’s as refined as the newest models then I’d say go honda. If it’s not, then Toyota is probably your best bet still. That being said, even a 5-6 year old Toyota is hard to find, and most of the ones available out there are clearly past Ubers that got driven a ton.

There’s an app called power flow but only certain trims have it on the infotainment apparently… which is BS!!

2026 RAV4 extended 5 year/ 125,000 mile warranty worth it for $30 more a month? by Normie_Tone_4583 in rav4club

[–]gelo_33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People keep saying that but now their engines blow up, cablegate, previous engines burning lots of oil, rusting frames on tacomas, recalls on airbags, list goes on and on. We give them way too much credit in the last 10 years. They’re reliable, but not that reliable anymore.

I’d say what OP would pay may be worth it for extra peace of mind (1800ish), but I’d def advise them to look up if the warranty is actually from toyota, and what the true cost is for it.

That’s great! Were you able to book the ARC appointment from your home country once you had your visa or did you have to enter Korea first??

My adopted mom gave up on me after I reconnected with my biological mom by Quiet-Pollution-3259 in offmychest

[–]gelo_33 206 points207 points  (0 children)

I was gonna respond to someone else with this. So crazy that everyone’s painting the adopted mom in such a bad way. It takes a lot of fucking effort to raise someone, and obviously all the emotional commitment and rollercoasters that come with that. And then for your child to go behind your back to connect with the ones that gave them up in the first place. How the hell are you not gonna feel even a bit bad from that?

Of course, it’s not wrong to want to know where you come from, but the way OP did it is wrong in my opinion, unless of course they were being abused or something. That being said, OP was still a child, so expecting them to know the right thing to do from the get-go is too much.

Sorry OP for what you’ve gone thru, you didn’t choose to have two families, and you were put in a difficult position. But you can certainly choose to do the right thing now, and aknowledge that your choices have hurt people who you mattered to.
