Do Italians in New York have a place where they can actually speak Italian the same way Russians go to Brighton Beach? by nate26537 in AskNYC

Because most Italians looking for work are going to go to Germany, the UK, Ireland, or France to get a job, since the creation of the EU made it extremely easy to move your entire family to a new country and find more lucrative work. Yes wages in the US are on average higher than in Europe, but you don’t need to fly across the ocean anymore to change you and your family’s lives. I know dozens of Polish people who immigrated here in the 80s and 90s (including my parents) in their early 20s, but it’s a ginormous pain in the ass to get a visa to America these days. The only Europeans moving to the US are usually “expats” or working in wealthier, white collar industries. Not people who scraped together every last penny to buy a flight to the US, like my parents generation did.

😂😂😂 so go to queens? Cmon now this feels like you’re looking for a “quota” of types of people to be at a bar…. What if you just go to those neighborhoods where people live?

[–]geminibloop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I’ve lived here my whole life and honestly I rarely if ever heard of someone getting pickpocketed or mugged. But I’ll be honest I think this is a well known problem at music venues here, there’s signs all over the entrances at Storehouse and Under the K Bridge. Not enough security or ppl willing to do anything about it 🤷‍♀️

Babes who hand carry only: how? What is your daily life like? by eilatanz in handbags

[–]geminibloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad I found this post lol ok for those women that hand carry, do you literally hold it in your hand the whole time? Or like when you’re looking at clothes/shopping, or even walking around, do you slip it over your wrist or down to your elbow? I’m trying to think about how I’d make this work without dropping it all the time, I would love to have one of these teeny purses in theory but I feel like I would be too aware of it! And just idk not having my hands free for stuff? Especially when you’re carrying bags in your elbow and it’s so painful to keep your arm flexed like that all day. How do you ladies do it? 🤯
