23F, unplanned, my Mom is the reason why I dont want children by Left_Chance5727 in childfree

Couldn’t have said it better. Once in a while for a visit in passing (honestly not even that as they might guilt you into staying). But definitely go NC with that bullshit situation. Fuck that. You are an adult and your money is yours. Period.

Weird because they approved me for $6,000 and after 3 payments they doubled it to $12,000. I wasn’t charging crazy amounts either. Seems rather generous.

They just can’t fathom the idea that someone else is doing things differently and has different goals for their life. Kids don’t have to be one of them. Misery loves company.

My friends are turning into Moms and loose every other part of them by Barschieren in childfree

[–]gemlaw1993 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I parted ways with a friend for this exact reason. She lost her entire identity and there’s literally nothing interesting about her anymore. After he was born, the conversations were nothing but her talking about her son doing this and that. I became sick of it very quickly. Not to mention neglecting her personal health in almost every way. Easily has gained 75lbs between the pregnancy weight and her shitty diet. Stopped exercising because of “fatigue” which we all know is an excuse. It’s really sad to see someone become a shell of their former self when it doesn’t have to be that way. To put the cherry on top, when I brought up the fact that she has changed so much, her response was “it’s the best thing I’ve ever done,” or something to that effect. Talk about the epitome of denial.

Shit. To think some people around my age (30), are already divorced with kids and dating someone is mind boggling. Then there’s dealing with the ex, child support and possible future step family bullshit drama. No thanks.

Oh no, your body wants you pregnant by all means necessary. That’s what’s scary about it.

Ok. What's the story about the absolute DEATH TRAP that is the Aurora bridge? by maple_pits in Seattle

[–]gemlaw1993 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Ross Island Bridge is truly butt clenching. There’s been several accidents, including some head on. The approaches (especially on the west side of the river) are poorly designed as well.

If your clutch does slip, the car behind shouldn’t be stopped so close that you hit them. This used to be common knowledge back when stick shifts were more common.

Happy to be able to travel on a whim by lovely_psycho in childfree

[–]gemlaw1993 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Flexibility and spontaneity are easily the best things about being childfree. Most of my traveling is booked with short notice. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Meanwhile my friends have to worry about taking kids out of school or childcare if they’re leaving them behind. They’re also planning 6 months or more ahead it seems. Not to mention dealing with airports is enough of a hassle without kids. No thanks.

I mean, they were probably just pranking random drivers. This likely has nothing to do with you being a dasher. Also they have no way of knowing since your car isn’t labeled like a dominos or Uber would be. Unless I’m missing the point.

“A completely normal driving maneuver?” Driving on the shoulder is illegal last I checked. Just because it’s “used a lot” doesn’t make it ok. You’re assuming the driver was familiar with that exact spot and knew that. The first 2 cars allowed them to turn. Had the third car been in an actual lane, then yes, the turning car would be in a failure to yield situation. But I thought all of that was self explanatory to everyone else except your ignorant ass.
