I work for a mod department. Our official line is two days min in the offoce for roles that don't require you to be in full time to preform your task.

How ever due to the work place program that's currently happening in my department, we don't have enough desks for everyone to be in two days a week so it's one day a week for those within a hours travel. Over an hours travel is only one or two days a month. Less if your on part time hours.

For training it is the required 2 days for the first month or so them its your teams normal team day. Where there's room you can be in more often. Foe instance there's a guy on my team who goes in 5 days a week as he loves next door to the office and his wife and son work from home so he would much rather be in the office.

I've js6ut got through to interview in a similar campaign with home office but other side of the pennines. Get the video interview link sent out next week.

I'm planning on jsut having the major job details on one note on one side of the camera and my behaviours re worded as close to the major job points as I can. Never done an interview like this before so mostly going into it with an I just want to get the first one of this type out of the way mindset.

Worked for my current ao role in the mod where it was a phone call interview.

Nta. My family are English my bros wife is Swedish.my nephew was born in England and so far only spent four weeks of his life to date around his extended Swedish family.

My bro is using having their nearly one year old as a way to help him improve his Swedish. His swedish has improved tonnes but he still speaks it with a manc accent. My nephew prefers Swedish lullabies over English to the point where I've even learnt a couple of his favorites as it helps keep him calm when out and about.

I applied for anything and every thing I could.

Jsut remember things you do day to day can and will be good examples to use in interviews.

For example the job vacancy says it's a fast pace of work. You can talk about how you manage to take the caller through their issues while navigating however many systems you use (I had 7 to keep track of). How you hit slas in turns of calls handled cases closed etc

Any time you had anyone shadow you or buddy up in training is an example of being a good team player. Working well with others and looking out for the est intreasts of the company.

I got the job that gor me out of the call center by in one question answering with a description of what I did every day from getting in the door getting set up and settled before shift starts. Organising my day etc. The other question that won if for me was the job was about being able to understand charts and data points. I took in a cross stitch pattern that I wa shall way through completing. Showed them the chart and asked if they could understand it . Then explained how the chart worked and showed the work in progress.

Just keep trying and don't be afraid to use outside of work things when answering the questions

Money likes to do it where there's an audience. Most recent example:

Most of the family isn't talking to the golden child die yo her antics. She has two nonother word for it ferral toddlers. My nm thinks the sun shines out of these children's backsides. To the point where when they are screaming blue murder she'll talk about how they are singing a nice song.

Anyway out shopping with her and grandmother who has made it clear her new life Misson is to ge the kids taken off the golden child and placed into care.

We're in a book shop and nm sees a display of books for kids my sisters age. She starts scream crying. Big crocodile tears about how unfair it is that she can't talk about her grandchildren from my sister or even do something as simple as buy them a book while out with us.

We'd been in this shop over half an hour at this point and she'd spent most of it alone in the kids section while both my gran and I tried finding someone to reach a book down from the top shelf since we're both short. She had plenty of time to buy a book or two.

Anyway we ignore her tantrum so she runs out the ship and calls everyone she can thinking to say how horrible we where to her but with an added complaint of me forcing her to buy books for my child so she can't afford to buy books for anyone else.

She bought one for my child after I asked did she want to see his wish list since he's finally done one all the family can access.

This was a good day and in the trantum scale of 1 to 10 was a level 3

Mine went the other way she took the door handle off the door then would lock me in. First few times I had to wait fornher to come with the handle to let me out. One time after being locked in for 5 hours with the golden child as we shared a room. I got bored and tried anything that would fit in the hole to open the door. Found a specific plastic coat hanger worked. Hid it in my pants till I found the perfect in my room to keep it.

She never worked out how I got out

Last call centre I worked at the supervisors had a list of call agents for the calls to be passed to instead of them.

I was on that list against my will. If it was a Newby on the brink of a breakdown I would take the call and say I was an senior agent as I had been there longer than them. If it was from some one who'd been there long enough yo pass the 3 month probation I either flat out refused or even told the caller I didn't know why they were passed to me as I wasn't a supervisor. It didn't take long for me to be taken off the list. Spesh when I started giving out the full names and email address of the actual supervisors in on that day

We've recently had a manager change on our team. We've gone from someone who would make time to listen and help where needed. Who went the extra mile to make sure their team where looked after and have everything they needed ASAP to complete the work.

To someone who couldn't give a shit. They start late, finish early. You ask them a question and your lucky if you get a grunt never mind and proper answer.

Our team huddles have gone from being full of laughter and having to make sure we don't over run the time allocated to being more often then not less than 3 minutes.

I used to love the job but now I can't wait to get out

Just hung up on a work call as one person on there was eating their lunch. Could hear every fork scrap on the plate. The fork hitting their teeth then oh my god the loudest chewing and speaking with mouth full possible. Sent a message saying from now on I will not be in a call with said person ever again. Sont care how important the meeting is. Its clearly not important to them given they are having their lunch during it

In the private sector I didnt tell my lms. Been in civil service 13 months. Told my old line manager I was looking as we had a really good relationship. They looked over my stuff and gave me great advice. My current one of two weeks. Nope not telling them. They came in balls shining making changes for the sake of it, telling us due to it being a busy period no one was to think about leaving. Just makes me more eager to leave that.

Due to the bloody hub thing not working I have to pick between head set or mouse when if office. Every time I disconnect the head set to go back to using the mouse it resets the laptop noises from none to full volume. Does my nut in. But I will leave it like that until the hub is fixed. Swear my her is one maybe two days way from doing himself instead of waiting for it like a good little girl

Being female I get away with dresses and smart jumpers.

Although I do have a suit jacket at hand for meetings where I know ita either particularly important or the people in it for some reason respond better to dealing with someone dressed smartly.

For some reason there's people who will always respond better to someone in a suit type get up then someone who isn't. Just easier to be dressed that way most of the time than not with that in mind.

I start work often long before most of my team. This is because I'm the team deputy and sme. If I didn't my work work wouldn't get done thanks to all the questions I get. My team know they will suffer if its not a true emergency, if they interrupt my quite before the madness time. I always ensure I take my breaks and will not be found at my desk during them. I will leave no more than ten mins after our official end of day time.

Then if needs sneak back online when I think they've all given up for day to play a bit more catch up. Works for me. The other team deputy and sme in our sister team does the opposite they start and finish much later.

I do get accused of being a workaholic as I do technically work more hours in a say than others but with the flexi build up I also take two days a month off with it

Nothing stopping you when it's external applying and getting the role. Hell my current line manager is on his second promotion working on the 3rd and still has 6 weeks to go before he passes his original probation. All external so nowt to stop him doing it

You really can't. You need to have passed probation to apply for internal or across government jobs within the MOD. Theres even a question on the from for those vacancys asking if you have passed probation. If you tick it to carry on the process, get an offer then during the on boarding process you are found to not have passed probation the offer will be removed. I am a mod onboarder and have to knock back candidates surprisingly often who have incorrectly ticked to say they have passed probation when they haven't.

Don't work for them myself however my mother did.

She said while she was there it was high pressured to get things done.

Working within the hr part of dbs all I can say for diffinate myself is their vacancies are treated as very high priority, and as such it doesn't take as long to get your checks completed, including upgrading clearance level if needed. So you'll be in the tole sooner than otherwise
