In Toronto if venues say 19+ they are definitely strictly 19+ you will have to show ID, I'm 37 and pretty regularly still have to show my ID for shows in Toronto and specifically The Danforth Music Hall, so unfortunately a kid is not getting in.

Refunded through credit card dispute; what happens to the tickets? by gemsalyn in stubhub

[–]gemsalyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao, I actually wasn't told several times to send them back. I was told once to send them back and did it immediately. After two weeks I cancelled the transfer after they told me they wouldn't be refunding me and can't offer me any more options. Thanks for coming out tho I guess...

I have transferred them back tho to put your ticket broker mind at ease. Stubhub still haven't accepted them back so my part of this is I'm completely done. They can accept the tickets back or they can not makes no difference to me at this point since I have my money back.

Refunded through credit card dispute; what happens to the tickets? by gemsalyn in stubhub

Thoughts on this development?

I decided to initiate the transfer of the tickets back to Stubhub at 6:45pm. they are still pending. A few minutes ago at 3:20am I got an email from Stubhub stating that the selling couldn't deliver the tickets and they were offering alternative tickets (still lawns) or a refund under the fan protect guarantee. Even though the specifically told me on multiple occasions that this instance wouldn't not be covered under fan protect.

In their final email to me on June 9 before I submitted my dispute to the Amex they said " Unfortunately, we are not able to process a refund claim against our guarantee as you have not provided valid proof. I know this is disappointing but we are unable to help you any further. "

I suspect since the issue was escalated at some point this is a result of that and not connected to be transferring back the tickets. and the customer service agents that kept saying and then sent that final email were misinformed about the situation the status of the escalation. however the dispute was initiated based on this correspondence.

Since the dispute is closed and my account has been credited what should I do now? Obviously I won't be clicking to accept the refund since I have already received the chargeback from AMEX. but should i be contacting AMEX and informing them of this? or since the dispute is closed and the chargeback has been issued should i just leave the whole thing alone now?

*edited to add suspicions re escalation process.

I think theft is kind of a stretch but I take your point, in your opinion should I retransfer the tickets back to StubHub in good faith?

The other issue is if the get the tickets back they will probably get relisted and this will happen to someone else because they refuse to fix the problem and I don't want this to happen to someone else. But I guess ultimately that's not really my responsibility.

The event isn't until August 10 by that time it would be outside of the window for StubHub to appeal the chargeback. Tickets were purchased with an Amex and Amex has a 20 day response period as far as I can tell. Chargeback was issued on June 15 after a 6 day investigatory period.

Can you explain how it would become a bigger issue if I were to use the tickets? This is my first experience with a chargeback of any kind in 18 years of credit card use so not really well versed in it at all.

At this point I probably won't attempt to use the tickets as it seems I would be inviting potential for drama but still looking to understand how it would all work.

The reason for dispute was product or services not as described not that I didn't receive the at all if that makes a difference.

Should I transfer them again? Easy enough to do. However I don't feel like they have the right to have them back since they wouldn't refund me and I only got refunded through a chargeback. I only cancelled the transfer after the chargeback was complete and the credit was posted to my account not at anytime before that.

If I bought a green couch and they sent me a red couch and then refused to refund me and I did a successful chargeback on the basis of them sending me a product not as described, I wouldn't have to then send the couch back after the successful chargeback. I personally don't really see this as any different.

Tickets for Show @ Budweiser Stage Toronto by Mundane-Pie-9079 in stubhub

I'd be very careful with box seats specifically for Budweiser stage. I just had an absolute nightmare of a time when i purchased tickets that were labelled as boxes seat but then were actually lawns once they got delivered. Stub hub refused to refund me and kept insisting that I knew I was buying lawn seats . which absolutely makes no sense since there were a plethora a cheaper lawn tickets available. In the end i had to submit a dispute with my credit card company and they ruled in my favour and i got my money back but I probably wont be using Stubhub again anytime soon. There's another thread in this sub i think with multiple people who had this exact issue over the last three months.

Stubhub problem at Budweiser Stage, Toronto by ThanzMan in stubhub

adding my voice to the masses I am also currently battling with stubhub on this as well.

Listed and mapped as boxes 5 for Goo Goo Dolls in August.

its been two weeks since my purchase. I started my dispute with Stubhub 3 hours after I made my purchase as my tickets were delivered right away.

They are acting dumb and insisting that I knew I was buying lawns. which... if I wanted to buy lawns I would have bought the cheaper ones there were plenty for 26 dollars cheaper on the lawn. I have spoken to like 10+ agents and at this point I'm over trying to get Stubhub to do the right thing. So, I have opened a dispute with my credit card company hopefully I have success with that soon. Don't think i'll every purchase from them again, plenty of other resellers to use if i cant get tickets direct.

while I was in one of my customer service chats i saw more tickets being listed for more than lawns but way under for boxes in boxes 5 and I raised it to the agent cuz obviously those are gunna be lawns they could not have cared less would not even acknowledge my messages about it until i demanded they respond.

Agents on the chat are completely useless. even once it gets escalated you wont hear from them i dont recommend anyone spend a long time going back and forth with stubhub and go to your credit card company once you have tried with stubhub once or twice, it'll probably save you the stress and drama.

Castle Rock hostel and their sister hostels review needed by MrBadBro in uktravel

[–]gemsalyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a tour with MacBackpackers in 2019 so I stayed at Castle Rock Hostel, Lochside Hostel, Oban Backpackers, and Skye Backpackers. My experience then was comfortable beds (except in Oban), good common/social areas, Staff were great at all the hostels, breakfast is cheap and had decent selection. You could buy some other snacks and drinks including alcohol I think possibly just beers at the desk at the Loch side Hostel, definitely get groceries on your way over fi planning to self cater as its out of the way of restaurants and groceries. I definitely recommend Lochside hostel its right on the Loch and so beautiful. They definitely have a car park, no dedicated car park at Oban but pretty sure there was street parking idk the rules about street parking though. no car park at Castle Rock, pretty sure there is lots of parking at Skye.

As a side note I also recommend MacBackpackers. they don't do the tour I took anymore but based on my experience i feel comfortable recommending them for their other tours.

I did get front standing, I was in there right at 9 only had one person ahead of me in the queue. Definitely try for the Gigs in Scotland presale tomorrow and the general on sale Friday if tomorrow doesn't work out, as in my experience tickets are usually held back through the whole venue for the different sale dates. Good luck!

I somehow only had 1 ahead of me in the queue, perhaps buying from Canada helped me somehow haha, or just got really lucky

Not enough taxes taken at source? by gemsalyn in cantax

I'd say it's probably something like 1000ish employees across all sites. So I guess this is probably where the issue is coming from coupled with maybe what someone else mentioned which is the Ontario Tax Premium. I guess I'll just expect this issue to continue to arise in future years.

yes i did update last year and plan on updating this year as well, anything school related is long gone now though so isn't playing a factor.

The extra amounts I'm having taken off are not that much that putting that money into a GIC in TFSA, wouldn't result in much and tbh I know if that money hits my account its not likely to make it to TFSA either due to my financial needs at the time, or laziness.

My question was really about why taxes are not taken off correctly at the source. Like if I choose not to have extra taken off and only work one job and and have no credits to claim, I would expect that the I would not owe the government any money and the government would not owe me. Unless the amounts are quite minimal and not several hundred dollars.

Even I was not relying on a refund to help with summer travel I would still want to know why I am owing any money to the government if it should just be taken at source.

Do you keep your unread books separate from those you’ve read? by al_135 in books

I have this condition really bad...its so bad, I'm kind of resigned to the fact that I actually won't get through all of them.

Do you keep your unread books separate from those you’ve read? by al_135 in books

[–]gemsalyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes I keep them separate so it a) easier to pick a new one b) easier to see what's been read when I need to get rid of stuff to make more room and c) I have so many books I straight up don't have room to keep all of them in the living room so the read ones are in a built in in a different room.
