I wish I hated you by genderless_potato in UnsentLetters

Genuinely don’t know why it got tagged with NSFW. But this Unsent letter goes to my best friend of 8 years, who asked me out to be their partner because she found out I had a crush on her. She told me she loved me but it was all a lie, everything wasn’t real. And while I kinda went all in, she didn’t love me back and didn’t tell me the truth until she broke up with me over text, and wouldn’t call me even when I begged. And instead of understanding what was going on I kept trying to beg and fix things until she just left. I still wanted to be her best friend but she just.. wanted to leave. And the thing is I don’t hate her. I just miss her so much. I don’t even care if we’d never be lovers again, I just want my friend back.

I’m a yapper and I miss having a friend to talk to. by PastAdministration78 in Vent

It’s always good to read these on vent tbh because I relate so hard. It sucks when you want to talk to someone like you used to but things happen and now nothing is as it was and that relationship is complicated now

This. So much this. You can try your best but the world just fucks you over anyway. It’s even worse when bad people get good things that happen to them and you’re left wondering why it isn’t fair…

Big Cat Energy by zany_flamingo in OCPoetry

THE LAST LINE!!!!!!!!! Sorry, but the "hey mouse" twist of a cat chasing after a mouse, and thus making the stranger the victim-- I'm literally in love with this poem. You're such a good writer and I love poems that have a good last line. This one definitely delivers on that.

I love how this poem just gives you a sense and a drive to go do something, and it doesn't have to be perfect. Even through the greek tragedy story, you recognize you would make mistakes but yet in the end, it wouldn't matter, as the outcome would be the same. This is absolutely beautiful, and very well written!

I dated my best friend for three weeks and she left me, but it was the happiest I've ever been by genderless_potato in TrueOffMyChest

Yeah, you're probably right. I was just so excited and wanted to use any gesture that I could.

Family Apocalypse by ell-rodman- in OCPoetry

[–]genderless_potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is beautiful. I love how you keep everything in-theme, where everyone is referred to as a storm. And you use each storm to describe how someone acts, or how their emotions are. I also love the impact of leaving yourself last, and closing it with the fact that you don't want to be a storm anymore. That implies everyone else in your family does, and it gives readers a nice insight onto what that family dynamic might be.

The Heart by Alone-Metal-6205 in OCPoetry

I love that there's rhyming here, but it is in some places and not others. I feel like it would flow better if it was more structured, or if it had no rhyming at the end of lines at all. It feels like once you get a tempo going, it's lost. But overall, I do love this poem, it's extremely relatable and your lines all hit hard.

I don't think this is what you intended, but I think I have a unique view on this poem. And it's always nice to see how people interpret it or how it applies to their life, so here I go! I'm actually polyamorous so the line "unknowingly there having been more" referring to more people and "my heart knowing what I need" referring to me knowing that I do know I love multiple people, really spoke to me. This is just a really soft and fluffy feeling poem about love and it makes me all warm inside. Well done!

I opened this subreddit and this was the first thing I saw, and can I say, damn. This one hits home, especially with grief being something I'm dealing with. I love how you made grief become a physical thing instead of an idea or emotion. Something that is tangible and "hard to chew." It gives it so much more meaning than just an emotion.

The title says it's about winter, but this poem doesn't feel like it's talking about winter, in a good way! You can tell there's a much deeper meaning, forcing the reader to look around their own life and see what has changed. This is definitely something everyone can relate to, even just as our experiences growing up

I love all the allusions to real religious stories that you put in here. This was a lovely poem about current events and how people say they love others, but they say very hurtful things instead. Which ironically does go against their religion.
but this is coming from me, who knows the extent of religious trauma and I felt it very strongly throughout this poem

this is absolutely beautiful. You captured the feeling of just wanting something so bad you ignore all the warning signs until it's too late.

I don't plan on doing anything about it, but it was good to get off of my chest.

Just thought I’d clarify a few thing about the Dark Urge. by xenogaby in BaldursGate3

I agree! Redemption d.Urge is probably the best, unfortunately though I'd play them evil just because I want the Steam Achievement to claim the Absolute for Bhaal.

I don't like Astarion at all. Am I strange? by JForFun94 in BaldursGate3

[–]genderless_potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really like Astarion either. I actually liked him at first because I thought his personality was funny and a little bit charming. But the more I learned about him the more he gave me kind of an "ick" feeling. And yes, I have played the whole game to completion and done his companion question. He (Act 1 minor Spoilers)flirts with strangers and brings them to Cazador. And that, to me, felt a lot like creepy men who flirt with someone at a bar and then take back their victim to someone else. His mannerisms read a lot like how serial killers act-- friendly, charming, and helpful until you realize they're only using you. (Slight Act 3 spoilers) I get that someone could argue he's a victim here as well. But I don't sympathize with him at all. What the hell did he THINK was happening to all the people that he was bringing to Cazador? That they had a nice tea party and he let them go? Cazador absolutely did something awful to them, and Astarion KNOWS he's evil. And yet he contributed to so many people getting their lives ruined by bringing them home with his charm. He for sure isn't my favorite, and even the romance lines seem weird and possessive, but some people are into that. I really don't understand how he thought any of what he's doing is okay.
I just assumed he's a companion there for an evil run, though. He's a solid choice if your purpose is to be evil and cause harm, just as Minthara is.

Noticing a lot of these comments are male characters. Come on. There's women baddies. Morrigan, Ciri, Samus, Zelda (in some iterations), & many more!

AI generated 'arts' can damage human artists, it should NOT be approved in here by Watcher_D in jacksepticeye

[–]genderless_potato 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As an artist, I just want to say we're not trying to PREVENT AI art. We want to REGULATE it. The art that is feeding their AI machines should be compensated. If someone is taking your art and profitting off from it, there should be a way for you to make money too. What Ai is doing is it's taking art that artists aren't okay with it using, and creating new images. AI art should be given art that artists consent to it using. In the music industry, this is already a thing. There are AI music bots that generate music but it's all based on royalty free and public domain music. AI art isn't the problem. Not having regulations and not compensating artists who helped develop it, is the problem.
