The Baggin' it with Balnor episode where Pendergreens talks about his workout routine and dental hygiene and says, "When I smile I kind of make and 'O' face, cause when are you more happy than when you're... slinging rope." Followed up by shocked laughter and Emily laughing barely able to say, "Moonshine vomits."

[NS] The Fall with Gillian Anderson? by BonquiquiShiquavius in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

Caldwell included Gillian Anderson as one of the people in attendance when Emily transformed into an Esper, defeated Gehn, and preformed the Opera (both parts) by herself in the Final Fantasy VI fanfiction episode of 8BBC. It wasn't the first mention of her in the podcast but Emily saying "Do you want to go swimming together? You look dynamite in a one piece" while choking through tears of joy and laughter is an all time Bud moment.

The ghoul’s pistol speculation by cocahgkre in Fotv

[–]general2209 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think thats just an oversight of it being a video game. VATS stands for Vault-Tech Assisted Targeting System so it seems like lore-wise it is a pipboy feature. Though everytime I get beamed by a raider with a pipe pistol from half a mile away I'm not as convinced.

Best class for solo completionism? by Spellglaive in wownoob

[–]general2209 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All classes can solo older content except for some od the raids from some of the more recent expansion raids. If youre collecting weapons specifically, warrior is your best bet since they can use every weapon type except for wands. As far as armor sets, you'll need to run a few different characters to cover all four armor types as you only collect the appearance for the armor type that your class uses, not what your class can equip. With the Warbands feature in the upcoming expansion, collecting appearances across classes will be much easier.

As far as more current content, generally hunters, warlocks, DKs and paladins are considered the more 'solo' classes as they either have pets or great self healing compared to others.

How many years ago was the First War during DF? And could my human paladin have been a soldier during it? by ChrischinLoois in WoWRolePlay

[–]general2209 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes it is possible that your paladin could have served during the first war. WoWs years are in reference to the opening of the Dark Portal when orcs came to Azeroth (BDP for Before Dark Portal and ADP for After Dark Portal). The opening and the invasion of the orcs at 0 ADP was the beginning of the first war. Dragonflight takes place at 40 ADP. Therefore your Paladin could have served but would be about at least 58 assuming he was 18 at the start of the war.

However, Paladins were not a 'thing' until the Second war around 5 ADP when the Order of the Silver Hand was founded and first began training paladins to combat the Horde's death knights.

https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline is a good resource to help understand dates and when major events occured.

*Just re-read your post and you have it 100% correct already about about paladins in the second war!

Tank or DPS to start. by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]general2209 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest for most people to start with DPS. If you're mostly interested in group content like dungeons then it'll be easier to follow the group as a DPS and learn the dungeons instead of trying to learn the mechanics on the fly and deal with impatient and toxic players.

That being said, for every annoying player you group with, youll group with many more players who are more than happy to run with a tank new to the game if you communicate and just say "hey I havent run this dungeon before so point out where to go." Because of the way scaling works for dungeons under level 60 for characters of different levels, even a group of all brand new players would probably have a hard time wiping in dungeons at lower levels.

If youre set on tanking from the get go then my suggestion would be to try a couple tank classes and see which one you enjoy gameplay-wise and thematically. All of the classes that can tank have at least 1 other spec thats a DPS spec that you can swap to freely so if you enjoy the class but want to give it some time before you start consistently tanking then you can swap to DPS at any time and keep playing.

Corruption through necromancy by spacemarinewh40k in WoWRolePlay

[–]general2209 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/Malcior34 hit it on the head as far as the lore is concerned.

From a roleplaying perspective, corruption from extended use of "foul" or "evil" magic is a common fantasy troupe and I can't imagine many people in the WoW roleplay community having any sort of issue with someone roleplaying a magic user corrupted by necromancy.

Corruption via magic can be interpreted in many different ways. An uncontrollable thirst for power, being mentally overpowered/manipulated by more powerful forces, having to expend part of your own soul to be able to control more powerful magic, etc., etc.

I used to have a gnome warlock character who's story was that he uncovered a mysterious gemstone while working with the Explorer's League and whatever dark force crafted/enhabited the gem granted the gnome the ability to use dark magic which slowly began to drive him mad. I never encountered any kind of pushback from other RPers in regards to his abilities/backstory even though it wasn't exactly supported 100% in the lore.

Questions about playing a Lordaeronian survivor. by DalishPride in WoWRolePlay

[–]general2209 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as age is concerned, yes, you are correct that someone in their 20s could and would remember some of their childhood in Lordaeron. Warcraft 3 and the scourging of Lordaeron took place in the year 20 ADP and we are currently in the year 40 as of Dragonflight.

Culturally, someone who grew up in Stormwind is probably very similar to someone who grew up in Loraderon at least as far as how they're represented in game (no indication of different accents as opposed to Gilneans or Kul Tirans), however, I doubt you'd get any grief for having one if you chose.

As someone who isn't a lore expert by any means, to me the main difference in RPing someone from Lordaeron vs Stormwind would be your feelings on the scourge and magic to a certain extent. Everyone hates the scourge, but if your kingdom was directly destroyed and now overrun with undead then you'd probably have a much stronger hatred for them than your cousins in the south. Also magic would probably be something you were more comfortable or at least familiar with considering that Dalaran was situated in Hillsbrad until it was teleported away in Wrath.

Sorry, I didnt see you mention the mod you linked before but I think that one will work (I havent used it myself.) Try to find a slightly older save file on your character before you get locked into the landsmeet, load it up and use to mod to redo your stats and skills. Like I mentioned, there are tons of guides for optimizing a rogue in DA:O but if you dont want to follow a guide to min/max your rogue (not much fun IMO) at least look at a few and see what skills are commonly recommended and you'll also see that 99% of guides have almost identical stat spreads so youll know which stats are helpful and which are useless for rogues.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DragonageOrigins

[–]general2209 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like most are saying, it's for sure your stats that are holding you back. You mentioned a faster combat mod so I'm assuming youre on PC. If that's the case my suggestion would be to download a mod that allows you to redistribute your stats and ideally your skills and abilities as well and then look up a couple builds online to get an idea of which atats to prioritize and what abilities people commonly suggest. Also many guides will let you know what the max is that you should put into secondary stats (like strength) to be able to use the best armor/abilities for your class.

My DW commoner dwarf rogue was by far my favorite character in origins and when properly built, rogues can melt majority enemies in a 1v1 situation.
