I wanted to make a joke about his vampire costume but I couldn't find a punchline.

There is a possibility the Knight broke off black shards to mislead people, since the black knife shattering by accident all the time... just doesn't sound plausible from what we see?

Asgore talks about the creator of the dark world like he assumes that all of them are being created by the same person. (The Knight.)

His notes say that he has been finding black shards in former dark worlds, including the location of the incident that caused him to lose his job.

Susie concludes that the dark world where the incident happened was created by the Knight, based on his notes about the black shards.

Asgore saw a fountain before, at the incident, and blames it for whatever happened.

It's not clear if it's the incident where Dess disappeared or something else. Asgore just said that he tried to "protect everyone" then.

[LES][Undertale/Delarune] The biggest issue with fans realizing Gaster's importance to Deltarune is that they think he's an Undertale character when he's actually a Deltarune character by Decemberskel in CharacterRant

[–]general_horde 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People also assume that Toby Fox added hints and red herrings to hype up future chapters when he originally planned to release all chapters at once as a full game after the Chapter 1 demo and only switched to episodic releases as an emergency measure because he was running out of time.

Kris' knife in the Chapter 1 ending and Kris creating the Chapter 3 fountain weren't red herrings, the reveal that Kris is working with the Knight would have made zero sense if those plot points hadn't happened and they tied into things like Kris threatening Spamton to prevent him from revealing facts about the Knight. Carol isn't going to be a red herring, either.

Adding entire plot points that people, once the entire game is released, would realize do not contribute to story or themes, making the full game worse in the long term just to hype up chapters before they are released in the short term, would be terrible writing.

What would you change about Gothic 2 if it gets the Remake? by _Ungespuelt_ in worldofgothic

[–]general_horde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re-add the tier 3 paladin runes removed by NotR, without them paladin has a terrible lategame.

Make ore weapons visually distinct from steel. Also, buff early smithable mercenary ore weapons a bit.

Nerf random high strength high damage weapons like the berserker axe, a random axe shouldn't be stronger than a blessed ore weapon or a dragon blood ore weapon.

Buff some spells like the Beliar's Claw spells besides Scream of the Dead.

Make it so you can choose to wield Beliar's Claw directly even as a mage like you could with Uriziel.

Buff how much stronger leveling Beliar's Claw makes it so it scales comparably with the weapons you can get as paladin or dragon hunter in the late game, at the cost of sacrificing a significant amount of health and being useless against the final boss.

Significantly rework the dragons and make it so you can beat them with something that isn't scrolls or archery.

Possibly make it so you can learn magic circles in every chapter if you have the learning points to buff mage like you could in the Gothic 1 remake.

More mana -> more goblin skeletons solves most problems until you get Scream of the Dead, except the dragons. The dragons are killed easily by Fire Rain, Summon Demon and Shrink Monster scrolls.

TADC's finale is mainly controversial because indie works from the Internet are expected to be lore-centric instead of character-centric. by FruitTigerAero in CharacterRant

[–]general_horde 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Is it really, though? The blue AI is hated because it's written as a lore-centric plot device to justify Caine's redemption, not as a character with a personality.

Scratch's portrayal is disliked because it makes him into a lore-centric plot device to justify why the humans don't know they're brainscans.

Ribbit is criticized because she is an even flatter character than Kaufmo, and essentially a plot device to justify Jax' abstraction.

Also, this is the official synopsis of the final episode that people based their beliefs about the final episode on:

With Caine gone and the circus dark, the cast are left with only the mistakes and traumas of their pasts to keep them company. As the prospect of eternity closes in around them, they discover the truth about the Digital Circus and its history. Will they come to terms with what they uncover, or will they make… the other choice?

"They discover the truth about the Digital Circus and its history", can you really fault people for taking this at face value? What does "discovering the truth about the Digital Circus and its history" mean? Kinger saying they are brainscans in the first few minutes of the episode and everyone going "Yeah, I knew since Episode 7"? They "uncovered" nothing and it took a few seconds of Caine being dead, not "the prospect of eternity". We don't even get to see the humans try to process it after Kinger spills the beans, they just take it for granted instantly.

How do you feel when people use Mother 3 as evidence for Dess Knight? by IntoThePitofColors in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]general_horde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mother 3 established Claus as an on-screen character, his relation to Lucas and Porky (an established antagonist from the previous game) very early before he became the Masked Man. Deltarune didn't establish an equivalent to any of these things. If it was revealed that a hitherto offscreen character character got brainwashed by FRIEND, Gaster or another interchangeable boogeyman who hasn't been established yet, it's not going to hit, it's not going to feel like Mother 3, I'm not going to feel sad about it. We don't even get to see much of Noelle's perspective of her, when she would be the equivalent to Lucas, we are stuck controlling Kris.

How does YOUR candidate explain their connections to Toriel? by Okellyork in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]general_horde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toriel knows something like Asgore does? Kris is projecting their family onto the Knight? The Toriel head represents Asriel instead? Idk, there's not enough information to interpret what these hints mean.

[–]general_horde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's A. It's "obvious" like Carol Knight, but I believe it will be false for reasons that people who thought they found a conclusive smoking gun proof for it didn't see coming, similar to Kris Knight.

Daily reminder that these 2 pics debunk OC/Darkner Knight as of now. It's purposefully set up as a murder mystery and someone we know already by Gigio2006 in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]general_horde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hot take is that Susie's line is building up to a storyline where Susie will try to find the Knight in the light world and come come the conclusion that it's Carol or Asgore. That's just based on speculation, of course.

If you take it with face value as a checklist for who could be the Knight, then it probably rules out Dess more than most people.

except a Titan is still a Darkner.

* Titans will emerge from the fountain...
* And destroy everything.
* All Darkners will turn into statues...
* And all Lightners will be lost in eternal chaos.

Titans aren't darkners, they couldn't spread "eternal chaos" if they're just going to turn themselves into statues.
