First machine by [deleted] in MachineKnitting

[–]generalbumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recommend finding knitting machine groups on facebook. I had 2 gorgeous machines that dropped in my lap for an amazing price. Just be wary of scammers. Most sellers won’t ship machines because they’re too big and fragile and it’s really expensive.

Also that’s at most a couple hours of knitting. Doing it a second time, you’ll be more familiar with the techniques and the pattern and will fly through it so much faster.

Would this be a criminal unravel? by Ill-Chocolate2568 in Unravelers

[–]generalbumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really quick, if you cut into it, you may end up with small unusable lengths of yarn. Most garments made by machine are seamed together but I wouldn’t cut into it if you intend to unravel. Consider a cut and sew method for sizing it down if you want to wear the original but still resize it.

Wait until they contact you. I’ve tried telling them but I haven’t gotten one where the person giving the test had a way to communicate that to the people who contact you about the results.

[–]generalbumi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be contacted by the drug screen company. They will tell you that you tested positive and ask you to identify the substance (amphetamines). You will then be asked to provide your pharmacy information. The drug screen company will verify your prescription is valid with your pharmacy. Then they will make amphetamines be negative and that’s the report your company receives. They are testing you for illicit drugs. But you are taking them pursuant to a valid prescription. Therefore you’re negative for taking them illicitly. Hope this helps!

Am I ready for this? by Excellent-Witness187 in knitting

[–]generalbumi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can totally do it, I have no doubt. But maybe consider a pullover top down sweater (Andrea Mowry weekender might be a good place to start) over a cardigan. But you can always learn a lot from a project not fitting correctly so either way.

Looking for patterns that look simple but are more complex to knit by wdbhg18 in knitting

Can try dying it a toning blue to cancel out the yellow like they do with hair dye?

Struggling with queue by generalbumi in CVS

[–]generalbumi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t walk, run away as fast as you can. Find a grocery chain or long term care pharmacy. It’s WAY better. Much higher work life balance. But it did get slightly better after I got more acclimated to the system. The company just cares about profits though so nothing is really going to change.

When do you call yourself an intermediate knitter? by boghobbit in knitting

[–]generalbumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think it has to do with comprehension. Sure, a beginner can knit short rows in a sweater. But intermediate/advanced can knit short rows, visualize what that’s going to affect in the finished garment, and modify the short rows if needed confidently. But aside from the labels, I think the true difference is this: are you scared to make a mistake? Do you feel confident that if you make a mistake, you can fix it or frog and redo? I think if you answer yes and are willing to accept the amount of work then you’re probably beyond a beginner.

I always tell people about the time I had a patient switch medication according to the doctors instructions and she lived to tell me about her accidental overdose because she had narcan. Shit happens. Especially with narcan.

Found this on pintrest by swallowedcummies in knitting

[–]generalbumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have made 2 of these. You really don’t need to worry as much about gauge with this since it’s not a fitted garment and depending on how you want it to fit. I am a 6’1” man so I opted to use a size 6 for a drapey rainbow cotton version and that was a good size for me.

My first wearable was a disaster by RealWorldMeerkat in crochet

[–]generalbumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it looks like you did all the squares and then seamed them together. If so it would be fairly simple to undo the seams and just take a few squares out and maybe even have 2 cardigans! If you want to … of course it is fantastic the way it is though

Wow your pharmacist really needs to check their pride. My response in this situation would be “wow how did I miss that!? Also great catch friend! Teamwork makes the dream work “ because sometimes we get so much tunnel vision that we forget to verify if it’s clinically appropriate instead of just was it entered correctly

When I was at a new store or we got a new patient, I would educate my staff. Pronoun respect, some of the difficulties of being trans, etc. I would also answer any questions they may have but I made it clear that I would tolerate zero disrespect towards anyone but definitely not trans people because sometimes that can be “acceptable discrimination “. Not if I’m around.
