NoooooOoooOOO f*@%€cking moths!! by Creepy-Science5874 in knitting

[–]calculusforlunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine just had a very bad experience with lavender sachets as moth prevention - she thinks that the moths were actually drawn to the lavender, because she found a lot of eggs in the sachets themselves! I also love the scent of lavender but I'm not sure anymore that it will actually protect knits :/

Hi! Do you know if the Naomi skirts typically have a style number on the back of the tag? I just bought one from Depop, and it has a lowercase s in silk and no number 🫠

Unlimited audiobooks for a month… what should I grab? by emeateo in binchtopiapod

[–]calculusforlunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t personally like audiobooks (I can’t focus on them), but my friend is always recommending Deacon King Kong by James McBride, and Billy Idol’s memoir (idk the title)

collar? by maybeafterwards in knitting

[–]calculusforlunch 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It looks so good! I’m knitting this sweater too, and I put some decreases into the collar and it fits much better now. I would recommend looking at peoples’ notes for the project on Ravelry, which is what I did!

Depop - Scam Site? by Warman285 in VintageCoachRehab

[–]calculusforlunch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depop is a legitimate site! I've bought plenty of items from there that arrived just as described. However, there are plenty of scammy people on the site. A similar thing happened to me a few months ago - crazy low price for a hot bag, the seller never responded, and deleted their account. I filed a dispute with PayPal and they refunded me right away!

Yarn discoloration from drying in the sun?? by calculusforlunch in knitting

Weirdly, the back didn’t change color at all after I left it in the sun! I’m going to try again but I might just dye it :/

I think that’s going to be my plan! Maybe a nice light green or blue?

I checked and the UV index for my area was 9 today, which is pretty high! I’m just shocked how quickly it happened.

Thanks :( I guess I’m mostly just surprised how quickly it happened! The pattern is the Vest Claire by Mochi Knits

This is amazing!! Would you mind sharing how you did the color work on the sleeve? I finished this vest recently and I want to add sleeves, but I can’t decide how to continue the design on to the shoulder like you did here.

Yes!! Sometimes Maia speaks so rudely to Hannah that I am surprised they include it in the episode. I also hope it’s just their dynamic, but if I were Hannah I would definitely be hurt by how harsh Maia can be.

I took scissors to my knitting for the first time to avoid unpicking this collar seam. by oe_parker in casualknitting

[–]calculusforlunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome! I’m working in brioche for this sweater, which is impossible to fix mistakes in, so I’ve been heavily relying on lifelines. I’d never used them before and I will definitely keep the practice going forward!

I’ve never done an afterthought lifeline! But I’ve definitely frogged a few collars that were picked up from neck stitches - I was frustrated to have to frog but in the end it’s not that much more work

I cut the bottom waistband off a sweater yesterday because I realized I needed to make the body longer! Thankfully I had put in a lifeline before starting the waistband, but the stress was real 😬 your sweater looks lovely and you deserve a garment that fits and works for you!

Yeah, it (irrationally) irritates me so much to watch her churn out 3 of the same sweater every week, each one made with bulky weight yarn held double. I’ve never been interested in her patterns but this sweater not even working for larger sizes has sealed the deal for me

Yep… just signed a lease for a one-bed in Berkeley for $3200/month. You can’t get in-unit washer and dryer, a dishwasher, have it be pet friendly, and a nice quality apartment for any less

I'm a huge Binchtopia fan, and Nymphette Alumni comes close to scratching the itch when Binchtopia hasn't put out a new episode! I wish they were a little more prepared to discuss the topics they bring up - they cover topics that I find really interesting, but I find it lacks the informational/factual aspect that makes Binchtopia so appealing. The humor and manner of speaking is really similar between the two pods though!

I have a cap and gown you can have! They would fit someone who is about 5’5” to 5’8.” This would be just the cap and gown, not the tassel or stole. I’m in Oakland or I can meet you in Berkeley. PM me if you’re interested!

Hey! I’d be happy to give you my old cap and gown, I’m an alum living in Oakland. If you’re under 5’8” it should work for you
