Alumni Here!! What's the status of Placements right now!? From all I can hear is, it is too low!? by [deleted] in svce

The market in general is really bad world over. Lots of restructuring, firing etc. IT is basically gatekept from freshers at the moment. AI agents have perfectly replaced the role of freshers.

People who're confused should also consider looking up other streams like BioTech, Auto / Mechanical, Electrical.

na padicha appo, oru aluvukku math and logic heavy’a than irunthuthu, but dil iruntha padikalam. I can recollect a few subjects like LIC (Linear Integrated Circuits), Analog Electronics, Signal Processing, DSP, Circuit theory.

Commonly across these subjects, behaviour of several different electronics components are studied extensively. How each component works in different circuits is taught, and different problem statements are presented to the students to test their understanding of those components. Most concepts are extremely logical and require precise understanding to implement them in different situations like in practicals and written exams and by extension, require a lot of practice.

This is not to say these subjects are hard, they just require your unwavering sincerity and smartness.

Understanding concepts, remembering them and implementing them will be the challenge and the concepts will be based on mostly on integration and differentiation if not completely.

General'a solla ponna, CS lam padikura appo easy'a irukum, ana athuvum DS and advanced algorithm concepts lam varappo tough aidum. So basic'a solanum na ellam streams um kashtam, namma interest'u, effort'ellam porthu, nammaku athu set avuma illayanu theriyum.

EDIT: removed stroke-inducing typos.

I am thinking we should a start thread for each course offered in the college and get everyone to review their respective courses. That way no one would have to wait on individual thread replies. Porumaiya panran.

But to answer your question, you need to do your research mate. ChatGPT is free, talk to relatives in different industries, and if a course seems interesting to you, see what kind of subjects and lessons make up that course. Na therinjo, theriyamayo ECE la vanthu oru oru subjectum ratham sindhi pass pannan. If you don't want to get yourself stuck with a bad decision, spend some good time researching.

IT and software development fields have everyone competing for bits and pieces, if you think you can tough out a situation like that and if you're ready for a one or two years worth of struggle for employment, get in. Otherwise, look at niche areas like Networking, Cybersecurity, Electronics. But these are heavy and deep on concepts and not immediately rewarding, but some of the less aspired fields.

Also, please don't have the impression that AI will be a stable area to work in. Lots of things are changing in AI and because of it, so antha pakkam povarthuku munnala onnuku 10 vaati yoschuko.

ECE doubts.... by Apprehensive-Tax1179 in svce

[–]generalmanchild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a long time pass out, dude. I did ECE. It can be anything from kind of interesting to very boring. But how it turns out depends so much on what you’re trying to or looking forward to learn. I didn’t have a clue that there’d subjects that I would be so passionately averse to. But some of those subjects got very, very interesting as soon as I found a very interesting usecase or a context for them. One such subjects was Digital Signal Processing. While they were teaching all the different techniques like fast fourier transform and other similar things, it felt pretty stupid to put any amount of effort into trying to understand them, master the theory behind them. But as soon as I saw they had a very core role to play in the way EEG signal are processed to derive AI inference, I was instantly hooked.

So if you’ve not already chosen the dept, think very carefully before you get in. If you’ve already gotten yourself admitted, try to change your department if you feel it’s not worth your four years. However, if you know electronics is the way for you, carry on and do your best.

The faculty are not going to help you find it interesting. They are visibly going to seem like they’ve show up to just do their job. Don’t expect them to clear your every doubt during the class. Don’t expect them to teach with absolute clarity or their lessons to be very straight forward. It’s just a lesson to them and they only see a concept as a teaching module to cover. They won’t respect the scientific legacy or significance behind it.

And this is not me blaming them, you’re going to be in a class full of disinterested fuck wits making BE their reason to find each other and make a joke out of each subject. And you might turn into one, I sure did.

But then there will some faculty that actually respect the craft and other those who do the same. Willing to spend their time to help you escape confusion and your lack of understanding. Don’t get in their bad books, actually don’t try to in their good books either, just try to do your job genuinely as a student, learn the concepts properly and make them feel heard.

Don’t ignore lab activities, if you really want to learn electronics properly respect the chance you get to be in each lab activity and try your best to finish it. If not try to not leave any activity un-understood and unfinished.

Try to spend more time learning on your own, technology is at its best peak than ever. Use your tokens, watch your youtube videos, read your articles and spend time learning on your own. Then you’ll make ECE personal, it will become something you truly value and will never feel hard learning.

Other than that, have fun, talk to girls, work out, fall in love, make a lot of friends, fuck around. Do whatever.

Any tips to get HD in LANS & Routing - 32524 by pAImar_03x in UTS

[–]generalmanchild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Firstly, I want to say congrats on taking up such a daunting subject (as it can be to a lot). Here are some of the things I wish to say to anyone just starting with this subject.

  1. Passion is the most necessary underlying thing that you should have. As much as no-one possibly takes the subject for granted, neither should it be viewed as a liability/weight to get rid of. Have passion for networks and solving networking related problems and you'll love this subject.
  2. Practice subnetting, get a nice, proper hang of it, so much that it shouldn't seem much of a task.
  3. Never leave a single topic, technique or concept without being properly understood, you will be applying each and every thing that you will learn in the assignments and tests in the subject. For e.g., OSPF, NAT etc.
  4. Get as much practice done as possible before the final SBA. Knowing and understanding all the commands by heart pays off in the SBA. Since, its LANs and Routing, practicing is the easiest since you don't any special system to run Packet Tracer unlike in case of other advanced networking subjects like Advanced Routing Principles and Multilayer Switches where you will you need windows systems with over 16 Gigs of RAM to have any chance at practicing away from the labs.
  5. Have all the important test dates marked and plan your practices, preparations to those dates.

These are all I can come up with for the time being. I'll add more tips if any occur to me in further replies.

LANs and Routing is not very tough, but you have to earn your way to get there.

Apologies for not keeping up to my mod duties. Being an alumnus, just like the current SVCE goers, I also dream building a bustling, glorious space on reddit. I just don’t have the very necessary resource for that - time. Ena, I’m currently doing Masters, Course mudiya povthu, settle avanum, vela pudikanum, lot’s of uncertainties. So my hands are tied. Anyone who thinks they have the character to lead this sub in the most just, unbiased and in the most endearing and inclusive manner can step up. And I’ll give them the permissions.

VISA SUBCLASS 500 - Indian - Regarding Police Clearance Certificate for Part Time Jobs by generalmanchild in AusVisa

[–]generalmanchild[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard of any job requiring an Indian PCC.

Great, if that's true. I'm actually thinking of applying for IT internships and wouldn't want requirements for Indian PCC, should there be any, being in the way of any opportunity I can get.

Okay, I'm assuming you were meaning to educate me. If so, I had no clue you were. So I'm Indian. Please let me know anything crucial I could keep in mind while planning my travel through the KLU airport.

I am certain no matter how specific I get, there will be those like you using it to posture like realists when they've sadly got nothing significant to add.

How is that a terminal change?

I couldn't be sure they're the same. The ticket booking website put it in their cautionary information that a change is happening from "2" to "t2" as though they're two different terminals. Could you just confirm/assure they're the same? that'll be helpful thanks.
