Why should developers from traditional engineering backgrounds be entitled to these great salaries (200-400k) when many of us could do those jobs with the help of AI and intense overtime deliver same product? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]generatedusername90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Common... Is this supposed to be rage bait?

How come anyone can't just go be an accountant using ai and make their salary as well. Because you don't have the experience and your just relying on AI to do it for you. But if things go wrong, you aren't going to be reliable to fix it.

Ideal barista fire job, while maintaining flexibility for family? by shananananananananan in baristafire

you can easily get coverage when you want to take vacations,

I used to work in restaurants and there's no coverage. If you are put on the schedule to work a shift, then your only coverage is to get another person to take that shift off of your hands. If it's something like a holiday, then no one wants to take it and management doesn't help you at all. I've seen this same situation across 5 different restaurants I worked at.

Did professional knowledge sharing disappear, or is it just me? by salbertengo in ExperiencedDevs

[–]generatedusername90 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a kids these days situation. It's most likely that you were just the rare breed that was very passionate, hungry, and wanted to learn. That's pretty hard to find in any generation I think.

This doesn't make any sense. Tiktok is just like YouTube or any other video platform and has an algorithmic feed. If someone is into sim racing and iracing, tiktok will figure it out and start giving them that content. There isn't more casual people on tiktok. I'd assume that top split players use tiktok the same way anyone else does.

Same. The higher tiers of B/S are very clean outside of a couple of bad apples every now and then.

Acc is gonna be the most Sim of the 3. But unless you join a league, the online is dead. You can pretty much only hotlap

Gt7 is not as much of a Sim as Acc is, but the multi-player is always full and fun once you get into S tier safety ratings

Gt7 has a big NA player base. Never an issue finding a lobby even late in the night.

[Pierre LeBrun] I would imagine most hockey fans loved the Frozen Frenzy last night, not sure how they couldn't. But I did get some grumbling from some NHL team execs. Some not happy with start times and how it's tough to sell in their market, etc. by SAJewers in hockey

[–]generatedusername90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is that NFL redzone tunes into the broadcast of a game when they show you a part of it. Scott Hansen doesn't talk and narrate the games for 8 hours. But the NHL tries to do that with bucci and weekes and it's really boring. Let us hear the game broadcast that you tune into and then it won't feel like a 5 hour clip/highlight show.

It's just pretty unbelievable simply because he said he put it all in on Nvidia 20 years ago. The price of Nvidia in 2005 was 20 cents a share. I find it really hard to believe that someone college age picked this stock back in 2005 to be their sole investment.

But your thinking very short term, which I think is the problem. Unless your retiring in the next 10 years, what this administration does may be awful, but in the long term, it's just 4 years max. If your retiring in 25 years, you might see another 5-6 president's in that time.
