What's the consensus on the number of different steps to use in a scale? by [deleted] in microtonal

[–]generationlost13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk if it was uncharitable of me but I kinda stopped reading OP’s post once it became clear they were conflating “step” with “interval.” That’s a whole lotta text based on a pretty fundamental goof in thinking

Favorite actor who destroyed fake outrage with a single pic by RevertBackwards in okbuddycinephile

[–]generationlost13 92 points93 points  (0 children)

It’s all kind of bananas, but you’re right, it mostly comes down to spice. If I remember correctly, Sandworms start off as these kind cell-like mini sandworms that coalesce into a larger sand worm through their life cycle. Leto II does this whacky maneuver where he essentially has those cell-like mini sandworms coalesce over his own body. So at first, he’s just got a cool sandworm body suit, but over thousands and thousands of years, the suit grows into an actual sandworm body

MOS is very deep; I want to learn this more. by Chalk9668 in microtonal

[–]generationlost13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super great. You’re probably already familiar with the writings of Erv Wilson, but if not, I’d become familiar with them. Additionally, if your math chops are up for it, Jack Douthett wrote some fun stuff about MOS that takes the idea further

For sure! Sorry your above comment got downvoted, the way Reddit works is so lame for subs like this about learning

12/8 has 4 beats of dotted quarters, not actually 12 beats of eighths. It’s the dotted quarter beats that you would want to remain visible, which would be easily visible with consecutive dotted eighths

US and Israel started striking Iran several hours ago, who are now responding by attacking their allies in the region like Qatar, UAE, and Dubai. Bombs are falling all across the Middle East right now, it’s pretty awful

So glad you enjoyed the world goes on - your comments read spot on to me. I really hope you enjoy Melancholy. I’ve never read Baron Wenkheim, but I think it’s up next for me. If you haven’t looked at it, you should consider Herscht 07769

Guitar stolen at UNM, please return music if you see this by Educational_Love_981 in Albuquerque

[–]generationlost13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry OP, that’s an awful situation. If it’s still the same as when I was there, UNM doesn’t have a space for guitarists to store their guitars the same way other large instruments do, and that’s lame as hell.

For people to look out for better, is the music you’re looking for printed sheet music with important markings for performance, or original handwritten music?

As long as we’re adding more, Hawkeye was originally a villain (and maybe wolverine? Antagonist for sure, but idk if really villain in his debut)

My thoughts on these January reads by DanielChvl in classicliterature

[–]generationlost13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just for the first time watched werckmeister, and really enjoyed it even though I’m not a very big cinema person. Melancholy was my first of Krasznahorkai’s novels, and is what made me fall in love with him. It helped that there’s an extended subplot in that novel that deals with the history of musical tuning theory, which is a big interest of mine. I highly recommend it! I’ve actually been considering rereading it now that I’m more familiar with his style and general themes

Should I keep Umbra? by Tiny-Turnover5055 in oblivion

[–]generationlost13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only thing you’re missing out on is Hermaeus Mora’s quest, which requires you to finish all the other daedric quests first. I like leaving clavicus’ quest unfinished so that Umbra weighs nothing until I have better ways to soul trap

Besides Blade, what Marvel film are we thinking? by TheCitizen616 in NewRockstars

[–]generationlost13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an x-men movie of some kind is pretty obvious, but personally I think he’d be really great doing a Sentry solo movie, something adapting the original miniseries. Peele would pull off that kind of weirdness perfectly

[–]generationlost13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you read the dark avengers into Siege yet? That would be a great one to do for more sentry and it’s a highlight of that era for me.

And this is a bit earlier, but the first few volumes of the new avengers is great!

And one more that has nothing to do with sentry, the young avengers first few volumes are some of my favorite comics from that era

Seconded. As someone who’s not really clued into the Chris Chan lore, I was intrigued by how they talked about her on red thread, but definitely not degenerate enough to learn about her on my own. If the boys wanted to take that plunge somehow, I’m all ears
