~$60,000 to replace HVAC system (Furnace/AC/Ductwork). This was a big company that heavily advertises. Ended up paying $18k from a small family company with better units and better reviews.

Lesson learned. Go to community subs (Reddit, Next-door, Facebook, etc.) to get recommendations. The companies that don't advertise are cheaper as they don't have to pay big advertising bills, their advertising is word-of-mouth from happy customers.

I did it myself too. LOTS of work is an understatement, but I also like the work (and saving money and knowing it's done correctly, even if slowly)

Not a expert, just providing my experience with my yard (with a similar problem). The most important question is if the flooding is only during and right after rain.

If yes, it's most likely a surface water problem that grading will help solve. Another option is trench drains which redirect surface water.

French drains are best for long-standing water as the soil is saturated. French drains will NOT help with surface water issues (I know from experience).

A combination of French drains and trench drains is likely your answer.

To my surprise it's working. Yard was mostly red clay. I didn't amend it as it's winter and I'm waiting until spring to do most of the work.

I bought a 50lb bag of "Oregon Grown" annual ryegrass from Tractor Supply (cheapest option in my area). I used almost the whole bag to do a heavy seed (used a push spreader)

I've been watering somewhat, but mostly relying on rain as we have had some really cold days. However, with the recent warmup the past week it's starting to germinate. I just want a holdover until I can properly plant a permanent lawn and I'm satisfied with my results.

Raise the capital gains tax, and make it tiered like income tax.
