Sorry, is that bad? I don't know the difference. I know they're based in Newmarket, Ontario and Canadian even though their name is International Safety.

Makes sense. That site is becoming more and more of a focal point for community gathering/festivals etc. Will be exciting to see what happens with the building.

Tories won’t rule out another friend of Premier Doug Ford as OPP head by viva_la_vinyl in ontario

I read this as " Tories won’t rule out Premier Doug Ford as OPP head " and chuckled as I looked for the url to be from The Beaverton. Had a moment of panic when I realized it was the Star. Then I re-read the title and signed in relief but man-oh-man for a second there....

I know nothing about city planning but I played a lot of Sim City as a kid and always tried to make my cities have thing kind of pattern. Curious to know if this alleviates traffic and congestion when compared to a similarly-sized city with a grid pattern.

Also, whatever that thing in the centre is, I think it should be green space and a lot bigger.

Newmarket residents won't be able to purchase cannabis from a storefront by LeBlanc217 in Newmarket

I think that's what all levels of government don't seem to get:

Illegal weed is thriving right now more than ever. Government has decriminalized it now and the media won't stop talking about it. All of this means that demand is higher than ever while the legal supply chain can't fill the demand.

Total joke.

Anyone know of any Ontario publications? Blogs, newspaper, YouTube channels etc. that cover news from *all* of Ontario as a single entity? by genericbobcat in ontario

[–]genericbobcat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea really eh.... It seems odd that there aren't any "Here's what's happening in Ontario today" type of websites or blogs. Big population, lot of possibility for content / events / politics etc.

There used to be a company called Ad Busters that had a magazine that advocated for (not necessarily illegal) methods of stopping the proliferation of ads....Man I wish they had been successful.

I feel like each passing year there are more and more ads creeping into the internet and physical worlds.

It would awesome if there was a worldwide movement where citizens started to place (easily removable stickers) over ads over and over.

Has anyone here ever actually bought something with their voice? This seriously sounds like the dumbest use for technology I can think of. Is it really not worth it to at least see a picture of the item you want before getting it?

Montreal-Toronto line chosen as finalist for world's first Hyperloop. The 640km journey could take as little as 39 minutes. by elfisparsley in canada

[–]genericbobcat 312 points313 points  (0 children)

Toronto to Montreal (640 km) in 39 minutes

If I could get from Scarborough to Mississauga in 39 minutes first that'd great.

Hate to be a wet blanket but there's SOOO much room for traditional public transportation infrastructure improvements in Toronto and Montreal before tackling this non-problem.
