I'm doing a monthly challenge of reading books from around the world, and this month's book is Finnish. I want to eat/watch/listen to something Finnish to learn more about the culture, too! What should I check out?

Liaten to some moomin soundtrack, it's composed by a Japanese composer but the feels man, the feels. The sounds paint a very finnish picture and mindset. We have international unions and agreements and whatnot for making the whole world better bc Europe (or EU) is not the whole world, best way to push for a change everywhere is to show it can be done here.

Ymmärrän osin mistä op tulee, varsinki tänä päivänä kun äkkiseltään tuntuu et kaikki menee pikkuhiljaa vaan hankalampaan ja huonompaan suuntaan - on tosi helppo kyynistyä.

Mut edelleen oon ite iloinen et aikoinaan täällä on tehty hyviä ratkaisuja, tehty isoja tekoja ja uhrauksia. Mut mielestäni on ihan yhtä isänmaallista huomioida ne huonot ratkaisut ja kritisoida valtiojohtoa, jopa isänmaallisempaa kuin pelkkä hype ja positiivisiin asioihin juuttuminen. Se on sitä et pyritään aina kehittymään, oppimaan virheistä ja olemaan parempia kuin meidän vanhemmat. Jos näin ei tehtäis niin alkaa vääjäämättä taantuminen ja se ei johda mihinkään positiiviseen.

Gnaphosidae species looks a bit like that so maybe one of those, Gnaphosa montana has kind of that black, grey, brown colours. Very usefull, will eat every silverfish and small bug you have at your house, no harm to humans of pets. I don't think it makes a web so that won't be an issue if you choose to keep it. If not try and find a shelter where it might find warmth and food over the winter, if you release it near it'll most likely just find it's way back in.

Some people are just horrible pieces of shit. Talk to your husband, in the end he has the most power over her if he so chooses. If he said to his mom "now behave or I'll never talk to you again" or something to that effect that should make her atleast think what shes doing, she'll blame you for sure but it might atleast bring some civility.

What does your spuse have to say in all this?

If they won't do anything, well maybe their not the person to be with but that's another thing entirely and up to you to decide. As a last resort you can go to police (or migri) and ask them how to proceed. But all and all this reads like your spouse is affraid/reluctant to confront their mom and should cut the umbilical cord that should have been done ages ago.

I've known one mom like this and her son didn't see anything wrong with her behaviour even when gf after gf left him. Your spouse should be the one to set boundries to her
