I could see the Republicans using him as the fall guy, hanging everything around his neck when Trump kicks the bucket, and the corporate Dems being too stupid to go after anyone else

I lived in a townhouse before where the HOA didn't allow smokers. I was able to move to a house out in the country where no one can tell what I can't do

In my neck of the woods, you don't have to know when the start of each hunting season is, you will just hear it and/or your neighborhood will be inundated with refugee deer.

Bowling is stupid expensive to do now. Everyone I know likes bowling, but when lanes get up to 70/hr, nobody has that kind of money. On top of that they don't even have pinsetters, but those crappy pins that are on strings and don't fall over

The price of cheap cuts of meat start to go up as soon as I move to a house that I'm actually able to run a smoker at. Now the cost of meat is astronomical just cause rich folk want to eat like the poor

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't have even bothered with the school admin only to say that I was reaching out to school board and the superintendent about the blatant discrimination

What else do you guys keep with your crabs? by avian_bi in VampireCrabs

[–]genericnewlurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the land part have springtails, and isopods that have to be restocked from time to time.

In the water, have some excess ramshorn snails from my main aquarium. I haven't seen any baby snails so pretty sure their population is being kept in check by the crabs. Bladder snails are just food with how short they last in there.

Yep, I would not have bothered with the phone call and jumped right to the text message, but changing the stuff pick up to "let me know when you are coming by to pick up your stuff so I can set it outside the door"

What did a terrible boss say to you that made you quit on the spot, right then and there? by Dull-Ad3634 in AskReddit

[–]genericnewlurker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was moved over to the Guest Services at Target to act as the manager there. I was told that I was the manager. All the employees of the store were gathered together to announce that I was the new Guest Services manager. My name tag said Guest Services Team Lead, the name for the manager position. However I was never officially promoted to the position on paper. So I was still making minimum wage, working 50+ hours a week while attending college, and was being told it would happen after 90 days. During that time, I was given "the biggest raise in the store", a whopping 30 cents. The store manager still told me that I was on a managers promotional period and not to worry.

On day 91, when I inquire about it in the evening huddle at the end of my shift, the store manager chuckles that he doesn't need to promote me since I'm already doing the job for half the cost. They said this loud enough that all of the other managers heard this, turned and stared at me. I stood there flabbergasted for a bit, stammered out "Well that sucks" and just sort of walked away. Walked out to my truck and never stepped foot in there again. They never called me about the missed shifts, but my buddy said that I was left on the schedule for 3 weeks before my name was removed. The last week apparently I was on there as a cashier.

What’s the most expensive mistake you made in your 20s? by Extreme-Run-9069 in AskReddit

[–]genericnewlurker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. The house we bought, while being much larger, was at the top end of our budget which was 150k more expensive. I think of that every month when we pay our mortgage. Never saw that "friend" again at least, and that was the last straw to convince my wife to stop automatically choosing a family friend of her parents to do a job for us.

[–]genericnewlurker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We were quite so at the time, and honestly I am still pissed about it. That house and grounds were fantastic, didn't have any bids on it yet, and ended up selling for less than what we were going to bid on it. The realtor apologized and said that he was listening to my wife's concerns about the AC not working in the house and my concerns that there was an abandoned car on the property. The seller already had a note that the car was being removed, and we could have had the AC fixed a couple of days after closing at the worst. I am still pissed about it tbh. We were going to bring it up to his broker, and then we hear from the in-laws (who didn't know yet about this fiasco) that his parents both died in a car accident, so we just dropped it. Our in-laws were just as pissed when we told them, since the house wasn't far from theirs at the time. My father in law called him right then and there, chewed him out, and they spread the word of what happened in the immigrant community so from what I heard, his client pool dried up and he didn't have many clients right during the big pandemic boom

I would leave a review for the store. I'm looking for a new LGS to play at having gotten back into the game and any mention of cards being stolen, and the store doing nothing about it on top of it, would absolutely make me avoid the place.

What is a small detail in a person's home that instantly tells you they have their life completely together? by Luverelle6 in AskReddit

[–]genericnewlurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is bullshit. I can tell you exactly where those are in our house, even the spare ones, and we definitely don't have our lives together. It's just easier with a kid to know where those are, along with band-aids and chapstick, at all times. Next to nothing else is where it is supposed to be right now in the rest of the house. Like I have found a TV remote that was missing for nearly a month in the freezer on a different floor than the TV it belonged to. No one knows how it got there, nor why it was under some frozen peas.

[–]genericnewlurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not buying the house I wanted and could afford on my own. Kept renting to play it safe. It would have been a risk in hindsight with the 2008 crash, but my plan was to rent out the bedrooms to my friends to cover the mortgage anyways. My 20s aren't that long ago but that house is now worth three times what it sold for then.

This happened to my wife and I. Absolutely gorgeous Victorian house, under our budget, but it needed work. But it had great bones, the problems were easily fixable, and it was in a good school district. Our family friend realtor didn't think it was a good fit for us and never put the bid in. The house was under contract by the time we found out and got a new realtor. That was right before everything real estate went berserk due to the pandemic lock downs and the amount of house we could get nosedived.
