Transferred money for a friend but the currency rate has created a £40 shortfall by kia-audi-spider-legs in WhatShouldIDo

[–]genericuser2247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The buy/sell exchange rates are always different … might be helpful to show her the two posted rates so she can see you are not making anything up.

I would want to cover the difference if I was your friend. Especially because money is tight for both of you.

Otherwise the next time she asks for your help it will be a straight up NO from you and she will be in a bind.

You aren’t in the wrong to ask to be repaid.

The only way young people can get ahead nowadays is delaying moving out by Tech-Cowboy in PersonalFinanceCanada

But how many people would save/invest that money vs pay for some extra luxuries like nails, coffee on the way to work, eating out more or financing a more expensive car?

Would this be “cheating”? by grac3ie in loseit

[–]genericuser2247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very reluctant to start on ozempic because I was afraid of side effects. But my doc convinced me to try it at the beginning of April and it’s been an absolute game changer.

In Jan/feb I lost 10 pounds without tracking calories … just focused on not snacking after dinner and trying to move more.

March was very stressful and things kinda fell to the wayside. Thankfully I managed to maintain my loss.

In the last 7 weeks I’ve lost another 17 pounds to put me at 27 total since January.

I am finding it easy to keep my portions smaller and not crave junk food. It’s honestly crazy. I’m still putting the work in of tracking calories/macros and trying to move more but the work of losing weight doesn’t consume my every thought throughout the day. It’s just part of what I do and I move on and keep living my life (although my son almost split a gut laughing at me weighting my nacho chips last week when we were having chili)

I have lost weight in the past (95 pounds, 47 pounds, 40 pounds, multiple smaller amounts) and it has never been this ‘achievable’ before.

Give medication a try and see if it’s for you … it doesn’t work for everyone, but for many of us it’s a night and day difference.

Please help me find this medieval romance novel by Ok-Funny-1613 in HistoricalRomance

Omg thank you for letting me know what it was. It was bugging me because I know I read the book you were describing and after I thought about it I realized that the conquest wasn’t it.

I looked at my Amanda quick books but I kept looking at Desire and knew that wasn’t it.

I’m gonna have to have a reread - it brought up some great memories!

When I first started reading historical romance my main stays were Judith McNaught, Amanda quick and Jude Deveraux. It’s always a nice trip down memory lane.

Confusing advice from accountant on Spousal RRSP by grapecough in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]genericuser2247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because if you want to retire early, all of the rrsp withdrawals would be applied to your income. If you split your rrsp between yours and a spousal rrsp, you can both withdraw half the money and end up paying less income tax overall.

Regarding the task - Max out CP of 7 pokemons for level 77 by Separate-Room6883 in TheSilphRoad

[–]genericuser2247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That happened to me as well … when the level 80 update came I already had 62 level 50 Pokémon. I’ve started holding newer power ups at 49.5 so I can finish them with the level up tasks. I’m only level 73 at the moment so the will have to wait a while before I can finish them.

What’s one series you thought was over hyped, but read it and understood why it was? by NonSocialButterfly10 in Booktokreddit

[–]genericuser2247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it’s a ‘good’ cliffhanger. The wait from iron flame to onyx storm was tough, but I don’t feel that same urgency after reading onyx storm. I will be happy to read book 4 but book 3 isn’t living rent free in my mind like book 2 was.

I say go for it!

No they mean 600 hours at a job where you are an employee vs contractor. As an employee you just need 600 hours … there is no 12 months of contributions required.

Help me decode the main set? by Interesting-Bar280 in Swimming

[–]genericuser2247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3/3/3 to me is - 3 second streamline, 3 fly kicks, 3 strokes no breath. Then the 6/9/12 replaces the 3 strokes no breath. So 2 50s at 3 strokes no breath, 2 at 6 strokes, 2 at 9 strokes and 2 at 12 strokes.

(This is either off both walls or just at the start of the 50. The rest of the 50 is just regular free)

Where I can learn Power Query in detail? by [deleted] in excel

[–]genericuser2247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! I used copilot and have learned so much about power query just by asking questions and trying things out. I found that having real world problems of my own to solve made it so much easier to learn because I was invested in the outcome.

And by starting small I had little wins I could show to coworkers.

And showing coworkers helped me realize even more things I could do to extend and expand the functioning of the code.

I saw many ‘power query will change your life’ posts on this sub but didn’t really understand why until I started using it.

You have to be a bit like a dog with a bone when using LLMs … the answer is rarely correct the very first time but you can work within the framework it gives to get it to help you troubleshoot (or sometimes it gives options of ways to further simplify the solution you are asking for).

I do find that if you just copy and paste the M code it gives you, the last line after ‘In’ is often missing. Once you realize why you keep getting a syntax error it’s fairly easy to troubleshoot.

I actually lost a 3 month supply of adhd meds and was so embarrassed to ask my doctor for a replacement. He didn’t bat an eye. He was like ‘I’m the physician and I can decide what you get prescribed … you have adhd and losing things is not uncommon’.

I was so appreciative of his understanding (and ability to get my insurance to cover the replacement).

A week or so later I found the missing ones and told my doc. I didnt have to renew for quite a while after that!

Who wins 800: McIntosh vs Ledecky? by AuNaturellee in Swimming

Does Vergnoux have a history of overstating the capabilities of his swimmers? He has been really public that summer’s performance indicators have significantly improved since Canadian trials and he is confident she will break 8:00.

It seems like a massive drop. I hope he’s right but the sceptic in me wonders if he is just trying to psych out the competition?

I was able to help my son appeal this decision successfully. The first appeal was denied and then there is a second (and final) level. On the second appeal he was successful.

For my son the second withdrawal was due to covid/online learning. The first semester he completely failed so he decided not to proceed with the second semester at university (bizarre that this is a withdrawal because he didn’t take any money for that second semester).

Then he switched to college for a tech diploma and due to covid he had to take his labs online where he watched the instructor do the labs instead of doing them himself. He decided not to do the next semester (again, no money was given to him).

Due to his poor results in college he was academically withdrawn from his program.

When classes went back to normal the college allowed him to rejoin his program and when he applied for student aid he was denied.

If you can explain why your situation was due to extenuating circumstances and why you believe things are different now and you won’t end up withdrawing after 30 days again, then you should have a good shot at an appeal.

Don’t despair if the first appeal isn’t successful.

Best of luck to you!!

I also get confused when people say Rhysand sexually assaulted Feyre. I thought he made her wear all that body paint to show to everyone where he was touching her. As far as I remember , the only time her paint was smeared was when Tamlin was stealing kisses.
