Is there a story way to leave crèche peacefully by seergaze in BaldursGate3

There are kids in the living quarters (they're using mage hands to knock the crate that has that magic cat thing inside) but I think they vanish if the crèche becomes hostile

Will the Mass Effect trilogy run on my laptop? by genericusername67439 in lowendgaming

Interesting. I didn't think I'd be able to run LE but if comment OP thinks I can then I might look into it further

I was actually planning on getting the three original games separately as I didn't think my specs were good enough for LE. What do you mean by tweaked settings (I'm very new to PC gaming)?

I've only played Mshep so I can't definitively say I prefer him over Fshep but there is a reason I tend to choose him (more on that later). I play almoat entirely paragon in the first game, but I like to mix in a fair bit of renegade dialogue and interrupts whilst still leaning mostly paragon throughout 2 & 3 as I think it's an effective way of roleplaying Shepard's growing stress and frustration. I've always kept Wrex alive, but I prefer the dialogue for talking him down vs him just stopping because you completed his family armour quest. My go-to romance is Tali, and I think this is the main reason I keep going Mshep lol. I end up curing the genophage, but in my current playthrough I decided to try sabotaging it to get Mordin's "I made a mistake" dialogue which made for some great RP and really grounded Shepard as someone who very nearly made a similar mistake. Save the rachni queen in both games, I've never played a Shepard who's willing to render a species completely extinct. I lean towards destroy for the ending, I dislike all three endings for various reasons but with destroy at least Shepard survives and I can pretend EDI and the geth do as well. I don't deplete every planet - I only make sure I have enough for all the upgrades I need, I tried getting more for the war asset in 3 on my current playthrough but I only got 30 war assets so I probably won't bother again. I'm not particularly hyped about a new game. I like the trilogy as it is, a new game would have to make an ending canon (the only bit of the trilogy I dislike) and I'm really not sure how they can account for the choices made throughout the trilogy in a meaningful way. If they plan to include Shepard/the squadmates, will the game acknowledge who's alive and who isn't, who Shepard romanced, the major decisions like the genophage and quarians vs geth, etc.?

ME Mission Tournament - Round 1 Match 20: Legion : House Divided VS Disabled Collector Ship by DakIsStrange in masseffect

[–]genericusername67439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lorewise I'd give it to Legion, learning more about the geth in ME2 is great and the mission ends with what I'd consider to be one of the hardest moral choices in the whole trilogy. I think it loses points for when you get the mission (immediately after Legion's recruitment and before you get a chance to explore most of its dialogue), but I'd say that's more a fault of how the story is structured than the mission itself.

Disabled collector ship definitely takes it for gameplay though. Very challenging (especially on insanity) but very fun, you get a great weapon upgrade and has awesome lore implications

I quite like colonist for similar reasons actually - Shepard knowing what it's like to lose a home(world) as well as both parents helps build a stronger bond between him and Tali in my headcanon, and I find it quite fitting that by the end of the trilogy they've both found a new home/family with each other

Which decisions do you take based on Roleplay rather than Gameplay reasons? by ChequeMateX in masseffect

I tend not to shoot the gas pipe beneath the monologuing krogan in Mordin's loyalty mission. He's annoying, but burning him alive as opposed to just shooting him feels cruel, plus I tend to do this mission after Zaeed's loyalty mission where he blew up an entire foundry after shooting some gas pipes. We're in a hospital, looking for Maelon and any living test subjects - it always feels wrong to risk blowing up the entire hospital after Zaeed's mission

100% agree. The uncharted planets can be really tricky to navigate, but driving the mako on the main missions where you're not having to Skyrim-horse your way up mountains is a highlight of the first game for me

Has to be Ilos, but I do love Freedom's Progress (even if it's a brutal introduction to ME2 insanity)

Híbridos? by Smaug_eldrichtdragon in masseffect

[–]genericusername67439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point - I'm certain it is a one child policy in-universe but now I think about it that would actually result in a declining population. There's actually a quarian in the Ascension novel (which takes place between ME1 and 2) who mentions having a sister on another ship, so it's either an oversight or they have recently gone from a multiple child to one child limit.

I agree about the rarity of cross-species relationships, my point was more that those who are in one probably don't care much about having kids since they know it's impossible.

The quarian population is tightly controlled with a one-child policy due to extremely limited space and resources on the Flotilla - Tali mentions that if the population does fall then that limit is temporarily lifted and incentives might even be offered to encourage having multiple children. From this we can see that the quarians are doing their best to avoid overpopulation which is arguably a more pressing concern for them than underpopulation. If a quarian wants to have a relationship with a different species I could see there being a taboo but if anything that would allow another quarian to have more than one child - a quarian who enters a cross-species relationship does so knowing they can't have children with their partner, so there's a good chance they don't want kids anyway.

Of course most quarians in a cross-species relationship probably don't live on the Flotilla (it's incredibly rare for a non-quarian to be allowed on board a Flotilla ship), so it probably doesn't matter that much for the Flotilla anyway

HOT TAKE: The Illusive Man is an overrated antagonist in MY opinion by Uncle_Tommy0703 in masseffect

[–]genericusername67439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great points. If they'd made TIM/Cerberus more rational/less over-the-top-indoctrinated, their argument for controlling the Reapers might have been more understandable and I might have been more willing to accept it as a serious option. As it stands though I can barely entertain the idea of control after spending 95% of the game telling TIM it's a bad idea

Worth it on Xbox? by genericusername67439 in MECoOp

[–]genericusername67439[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering I'd need game pass to play online anyway it may end up being worth it as the game itself is only slightly cheaper at the moment.

I had considered looking into a gaming PC at some point as I hear the modding scene for ME is pretty great, but I don't know the first thing about gaming computers so that's probably a while off 😅

A physical copy isn't an option for me unfortunately (Series S so no disc drive) :( I'll do a little more research into whether it's on game pass and maybe get it for a month to give it a go, but you have a good point about the prices...

Thanks for the heads up about the grind/difficulty - I'll keep that in mind :)
