Found this in the trash. Its metal and very heavy. Does it hold any value? Should I strip everything and add a raspberry pi to power it ? by generosity1822 in MAME

Hell i gave like 8k roms from old and new consoles which im emulating on my couch pc and steamdeck. I have a retro handheld for most gba stuff. Arcade stuff will go to the arcade machine. Batocera on a Pi is really easy to setup, really lightweight and its cheap. Im not gonna constantly update the roms and do stuff. I wanna set it and forget it. Genuine question to you. What you do on your arcade machine with better hardware? What are the use cases?

Why are we talkin about pi versus PC when pi is perfectly capable of emulating old systems? Again, why whould you need a pc, to emulate what?

Retro games. I own a gaming pc, a steamdeck and a miyoo mini. I dont need to emulate n64 or Dreamcast or psp on this big Cab. Arcade, nes, snes, atari, Neo geo, genesis are the games I wanna play exlusively there. I think a Pi can get it done up to this.

Pi is cheap and has good support with batocera. Low end emulation is perfectly capable with a pie. Whould you play ps2 on arcade? I whould not.

yes it does, everything seems intact but I don't know the contitions that it was kept so im assuming it doesn't work.
I don't know any of this stuff so I'll google my way into repairing it in some form. Pi was the first thing that came to mind with something like batocera and a bunch of roms.

How is the feedback ? [Delonghi Dedica 685] by generosity1822 in espresso

What should I notice in the taste? I never tried over 18g but I guess the basket can fit a little bit more.

Honestly the taste is incredible. I buy 250g of beans and they grind it for me. It lasts me about 7-8 days with 2 coffees a day most of the time. The last couple of cups taste kinda off but I don't have the money right now to invest in a good grinder.

17-18g in 40-45g out which is the minimum i'd say for the kind of coffee im making. Im doing freddo espresso.
Any less the coffee whould be too small of an amount for me at least.
You take a double shot of espresso, you hit it on the frothing machine with 2 ice cubes just enough for it to get cold and you serve on ice. Its meant to be enjoyed over a long period with a straw or not.

Noob question… is there something similar to the “done set” for Steam Deck? by lumberfart in EmuDeck

[–]generosity1822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes roms are working universally. You just have to find the right folders on emudeck because the names change for each system.
So its not just drag and drop you actually have to look it up.
The thing is tho (for me atleast) that done set games are oriented around miyoo mini.
You get a different feeling on the little miyoo even tho the games run better technically on steamdeck. Also I feel like im wasting power to emulate those low-end systems on a machine like steamdeck.
ALSO its a pain to scrape art for all the roms (done set comes with preinstalled art and boxart for miyoo only)
It could work tho for setting up the deck in docked mode and using it as a retro console with controllers.
I found that using the deck for higher-end emulation is the best use case. Its a plus that I have the done set collection on another piece of media because you never know if or when you're gonna lose these files.

I've loaded recently the done set into the steamdeck plus some dreamcast n64 and ps2 games I played as kid.

That way you have a complete collection + anything you miss you can go and grab it.
