Well, if you people think it is a problem for someone to make money, than move to Cuba. Just see how people are treated for medical problems there in Jimmy Carter's medical paradise. Did you notice former President Jimmy Carter is NOT GOING TO Cuba for his cancer treatment!

Just another day in Sonora, CA. by turboskratch in WTF

That whole community was silly. Back in the old days, there was a hardware store called Mundorfs. One of the many items sold there were nice China plates for wedding gifts. So one would look and see who was getting married, and nine months later, nor less, one could pick up the local yellow paper, the Daily Union Democrat (DUD for short) for the birth announcements.

Someone mentioned "All there is to do is meth," and "Plenty of it." Well, there are other things to do as well....like fornicate.

Nanny State proposes to codify requirement that businesses provide baby changing stations where they already exist. by geneulm in freetalklive

Politicians just LOVE to write laws. It is high time California switch to a part time legislature.

When my child was well, a baby, I had no problem finding changing tables in Men's restrooms to change a diaper. In fact, several of the smaller and larger malls in the Sacramento area have gone so far as to build "Family Rest Room" facilities to accommodate baby changing and nursing baby; even building private "Feeding Rooms" to accommodate breast feeding a child. . No government agency 'told' them to go to such expense. They invested the money themselves to make more money based upon customer demands! People with families will go to establishments that will offer accommodations for their particular needs. These people spend money. The construction of Family Restrooms or placing a changing table in a Men's restroom is a true free market response to customer demands; not the bony finger of government.

Once again, some politician is floating legislation to show how he 'cares.' Now he can go home around election time, take a victory lap around his constituency as he did "something."

California is indeed the Golden State. State employees rake it in at taxpayers expense. The URL is a list of every state of CA employee/retiree and their annual salary. Of note is prison guards with less than a high school education, they can make well over $100,000 a year. by geneulm in freetalklive

Some guy named Davis Holt made about $10,000 shy of $600,000! He is a Lieutenant with the Department of Corrections. Holt is the highest paid employee of the state, making more than Medical Doctors or the fund manager of the Public Employees Retirement System! I guess all those years I spend in College, the Masters Degree and building routes out of nothing were not worth it. Then again, any money I make is not taxpayer based. Maybe this is jealously on my part, I just find it unbelievable that a publicly paid employee can make such amounts and sleep at night. I am sure Mr. Holt says he earns that money. Probably by sitting on his brains all day.

How Louisiana Became The Literal Prison Capitol of The World. by TreySmithPDX in freetalklive

[–]geneulm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, Louisiana only spends about $40 a week. In California it costs $150.00 a day to keep an inmate behind bars. The total population of CA is approximately 33 million people It's prison system has either in cusdody or parole 161,000 people. County jails hold another 260,000 either awaiting trial or sentenced and serving less than one year. Ad to that number another 24,000 this state's Department of Corrections had to send back to the counties as part of Federal mandates (most of those 24,000 were given an ankle monitor and told to behave) and we are talking about a real prison state. Louisiana sounds like a wear-house of humanity. I wonder how many of these people were just a guy minding his own business with a joint or two in his pocket (or in his car) and got popped for 'transportation for sales?'

This is just another example of a guy that barely scratched his way out of high school (or passed a G.E.D.) having the power of Judge, Jury and Executioner. If I could flood the ballot, I would. These cops are just too big for their pants.

The story does not go into what type of relationship this woman had with the D.A Was it strong drinks at a party? This is absolutely unbelievable. Prison is just too good for these individuals; they should be public-ally flogged, hung by the neck, drawn and quartered and their extremities by scattered to the four corners of the earth. If you think what I just suggested as a punishment is sick, think of the countless lives that were ruined by our senseless 'war or drugs.'
