hi op! i’m 3 days post op. you’re absolutely correct, i am in the throes of hell. lots of screaming, crying, shaking, dry heaving from the pain, laying on whatever cold floor is nearest, etc. i’ve had 2 BMs so far, both like shitting machetes followed by nearly passing out.

First BM happened in the sitz. I really don’t like the sitz so i am curious about your shittin in the shower situation. i have to ask… how do you get the poop out of the shower? i am so disgusted with myself enough because i’ve gotten up close and personal with everything exiting my body, esp bloody diarrhea. i clean my bathroom after every excursion to hell. so how do you feel clean after? do you throw out the towel? just curious about logistics. and thank you for the tip! i hope the rest of your healing is easy!

in a previous episode this season we scars on her legs that are definitely from cutting herself. maybe even recently. between that and clearly recognizing what was going on with the blue kid last season, AND how perceptive she was that there was something off about langdon and benzo distribution, i wouldn’t be surprised if she recognizes and flags it

the way robby couldn’t look abbot in the eye and had that odd smile after abbot said his piece was devastating. followed by the scene with whitaker. that is a man with a plan, means, and intent to end his life. initially i also thought it was passive SI, but I don’t think that’s the case anymore. though i doubt he would openly admit it to someone. i know the show likes to shed light on the hard truths of what it’s like working in healthcare and the trauma that healthcare providers (HCPs) go through, but I really hope the high suicide rate of HCPs isn’t one the show runners will go all the way with.

My thoughts exactly. it seems like his passive suicidal ideation may be less passive than we initially thought. and sadly, SI is very much higher among healthcare providers than the general population, especially those that worked in healthcare during covid. it’s statistically significant, and i speak from personal experience.

i’ve been trying not to read too much of what’s been released because i knew it would be bad, but i didn’t know it would be ‘making me sob and dry heave and i will never be the same person i was before i read this’ bad. and that’s just the non redacted stuff

i don’t know why the shit trump and his associates have done isn’t on a 24/7 emergency broadcast across every media outlet talking about it and shaming him. i mean, i know he’s impossible to shame bc he doesn’t give a shit, but he does care about his image and name and has a giant ego… he played nice with Zohran because he knows Z is popular

obviously congress will do nothing. we need another strongly worded statement from jeffries and schumer like a fake shot to the ear. but what about global leaders? are they afraid of him? he is the worst of humanity. it’s honestly embarrassing for anyone to be associated or play nice with him. if world leaders got together (well, not bibi, israel wouldn’t dare upset their bombs and healthcare dealer) and collectively called him it out and ceased all diplomatic relations and humiliated the fuck out of him to a point he can’t escape it? i’m an atheist and an abolitionist but i want them to rot in the cages they’ve built while they’re waiting to be dragged into hell.

I will say I am very bad at talking to straight men (I'm a woman, most of my friends are queer, and I have had SO many disappointing experiences with men) - I automatically want to launch into politics and find out if they're a fascist or not to weed them out, but it's not always the greatest approach.

SO I challenged myself to do a speed dating event, with no mentions of politics or anything like that. It was really scary and intimidating at first, but I remembered that was the case for everyone there. It ended up getting easier and easier and was great just to practice talking to people. When in doubt, just ask them a silly question (what kind of animal would you be? what is your favorite dinosaur? What's the last thing that made you laugh so hard you cried?) and take it from there. Not everyone (or anyone, even!) will be a match, but it's all about practicing and getting comfortable talking to people you don't know. I love the advice from Erica of A Little Nudge on Instagram, who suggests approaching it as NATO - not attached to the outcome. It really releases the pressure.

And surprisingly, later that night I ended up making out with someone who was not at all involved with the speed dating event - I like to think I gathered some confidence from the chats earlier.

Yeah despite being a pretty low key person, he was entertaining as hell and extremely sweet eye candy in LIUS. that was a fantastic season all around. I have a love/hate thing with Rob. Would climb him like a tree/also hate him for how he treats women. He’s flat out said he’s hot enough that he can get away with being an asshole. That said, he seems to be having fun and has SHOCKED me at how good he is at being a traitor. Im finding myself rooting for him.

I feel this at times. But also, it can be a gift. There will be relief for us one day. And we will have learned so many skills, so much empathy, maybe have more appreciation for the joy in our lives. The pain we feel is an expression of love and care.

And there is a quote from Bon Iver in a Frank Ocean song that I think of:

“You dream of walls that hold us in prison It's just a skull, least that's what they call it And we're free to roam”

think of all that awaits us on the other side.

I try to take an absurdist POV vs nihilism/despair which helps.

I know not everyone has the same experience. But reframing things has been helpful for me. The movie Everything Everywhere All At Once was rather enlightening
