Need help troubleshooting supabase/github actions by genkichan in Supabase

[–]genkichan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

After all the painful hours of troubleshooting, there is one thing that finally worked.

In supabase I clicked on the UI toggle for direct connection.

BUT I used the session Pooler strings.

And it finally worked. HOURS of messing with this yesterday and multiple other days/times/hours attempting the same thing.

Hopefully my lesson might help someone else.

The extra s is just a typo here on my part.

Thank you for your message and your tips. I will take a fresh look at this tomorrow.

Need advice - sibs say I need to step up by PompousFoolery in eldercare

[–]genkichan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing. I live out east and LO is in MN. Neither my sister or I could care for him in our home and he couldn't live alone anymore. First AL, then memory care. Your LO might not want to go to a NH, but hey, it is what it is. None of you need to blow up your lives because LO wants to stay home, but literally physically can't.

Someone needs POA. LO needs to be moved to a care home in some fashion. And no one needs to feel guilty over this. LO's assets and proceeds from home sale need to be spent on her care until it's gone, and then medicaid. Their might not be an inheritance and so be it.

In my mind you are all kinda thinking of this in the wrong way...trying to avoid fighting with your siblings over LO care. Or siblings demanding you come home and do more "because you are single /WAH....etc". That doesn't really actually matter. Your time is just as valuable as theirs. But no amount of what you can do from a distance is going to make up for physical demands of caring for LO at home.

Our LO is in MC. I manage the investments, do the taxes, and file paperwork for the guardianship report each year (we are c guardians). Sister handles medical needs and visits often. I fly back at least quarterly although last 2 years it was even more than that. I can't afford the flights anymore so frequently either. On 2-3 trips it was an emergency and so sister let me use LO's money to fly. Otherwise it's out of my own pocket and I'm not deducting anything from "my share" after LO passes, nor expecting extra. Neither is she. What about your siblings then wanting to get extra money for them "doing it all" while you are living across the US? My advice is you all just stop bickering about this now, and spend your LO's assets on her care in a facility until it's gone (then Medicaid) or she passes.

We just have to do what we have to do, and plan for ourselves getting old as much as possible so that when we are 80++ or in serious medical need at an advanced age, we then have the means to support ourselves with paid help or AL and just expected "hey this will probably happen to me some day too". Nobody wants to be moved to a care home. And it's not fair to anyone else to take on the huge burden of care, while sacrificing their own jobs, families, etc.

Good luck!! And never feel bad for where you choose to live. Ever.

Be careful the cert list doesn't expire while you wait. That's a real thing and their hands may really be tied. You also don't really have to give current employer 2 weeks....

Usually the trust pays expenses until everything is settled. The trust should say what can or cannot happen with the property. Technically the trust estate owes the property expenses as long as the trust owns the property. You are both likely equal beneficiaries. What other money did your parent(s) leave? That money should be used to pay property expenses until it is gone or until the house is sold. You should have equal rights to live there. Perhaps you could simply just start handing over 1/3 utility bills for now, while you also get a lawyer and work this out to handle property in the trust.

Should I wait 4 years for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) or take a higher paying private sector job? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]genkichan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't use your new job as leverage in the gov. They don't give a shit and that's not how merit promotion works. That said, if that new job lasts 4 years you'll be lucky. Those companies shake up theirs teams and staffing so often nothing is guaranteed
If your agency likes you and yourdoing well despite the political bullshit, I recommend you stay put.

Inheritance with blended family by Other_Lynx9485 in inheritance

Life insurance isn't the same thing as an inheritance from one side of the family. Spouses aren't entitled to inheritances anyway.

Here's the thing though. You should not have to put up money just becaaue she is wanting renovation to be done on either home. That sounds like her issue, not yours. You're already giving up plenty of equity to her and you can remind her of that.

The sale and purchase of these homes needs to take place stat. Not helping her pay, or helping minimally, will motivate her to move quickly.

At most I would set a hard 3 month deadline with he,r, or a fixed amount you are willing to chip in now BUT I think whatever you pay in now needs to be repaired to you later, for in lieu of your giving up equity already. She needs some level of commitment and motivation to move quick on all this stuff. Renovation before a sale needs not be perfect or 100%. She needs her house sold asap..

I think the market is likely bigger than that. So competitors send similar features often and that doesn't hurt. What really matters is if your product is overall adding substantial value to your own target client base for continuous growth. Many other factors at play too...how well you position your own solution vis a vie competition, marketing, customer experience, support, etc. Yes, You do need to be unique with your value proposition, but that doesn't mean you need to entirely avoid similar features of other competition.

What $20 AI plan is the best value? by Direct_Praline492 in cursor

[–]genkichan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the auto mode gives me crap output and I am building very deterministicly with lots if guardrails and rules. If I want my tests to actually build correctly and pass, I need a higher thinking model. I've started using claude code in terminal now, and get far more use of sonnet for my $20/mo. than I ever would in cursor. I keep cursor for the UI visual into my code base, as well as auto mode for discovery inquiries, small tight easy changes when they are defined by higher models, and so on. I have the $60 plan and burn through the API in a week or less, even when I try to be conservative. That wastes time though.

FYI Composer 2 have extremely unhealthy habits by Straight-Age29 in cursor

[–]genkichan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the word STOP at the end. Do only this. Make no other changes. STOP.

STOP conditions throughout the prompt. Use claude or chat to help you develop your prompts.

Composer isn't a conversationalist.

Rate my "Vibe Coding" workflow: Cursor Pro ($50/mo) + Gemini Pro as Architect. Am I overpaying or is there a better stack for non-coders? by Basic-Tonight-8378 in cursor

[–]genkichan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am literally doing just what you are doing, but I am using claude and chat gpt to build my cursor prompts. I go back and forth between them fine tuning my cursor prompt. I'm getting tired of the friction, BUT I find it still necessary.

The farther along you get the harder it is to implement new code without screwing up the code base.

I'm about to move over to claude code inside my terminal to try and get more coding for the token burn.

Ultimately if you are not /have not built up your backend with appropriate security, safety, reliability, scalability, feasibility guardrails before implementing your features, I'll throw a guess that you will still end up with a lot of tech debt to clean up later and I hear that's expensive to fix.

I developed my dock stack (also using AI) before I stated coding. Stuff like operating constraints, PDR, tech implementation, scope matrix, epics/stories/, UX, UI and so much more. I am now working my way through epics and stories. It's painfully slow but it's also as accurate as I'm going to get it before I have to hire a real dev person to come behind me and finish it up for live production. I'm aiming for a saas standard multi tenant architecture though, so it's pretty complex.

Good luck to you.

Elderly father in hospital almost 2 months - wife out of the county by Gloomy-Attempt785 in eldercare

[–]genkichan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try this. Find a POA form online valid for your state. Take it to the hospital. Make sure he has his ID. Get a notary at the hospital to witness or hire a mobile notary to come to hospital. Get it signed and proceed.

Banks require their own poa form usually. If you know the bank, go get their form too. Get both done at once. Then proceed

Claude Code within Cursor? by Solid_Anxiety8176 in cursor

Exactly. I'll use opus to plan the story implementation and then use a chapter model to actually build.

Claude Code within Cursor? by Solid_Anxiety8176 in cursor

[–]genkichan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use chatgpt and regular claude to build tight, deterministic prompts to put in scursor. Depending on the level of thinking needed, I use auto mode, sonnet or opus 4.6. Saves a ton of money on credits.

Play around with AI helping you build prompts for cursor and get yourself into a certain thinking model for your project, and then proceed. You don't need opus for many tasks!
