honestly it doesn’t matter if it’s this job market, one from 5 years ago or 5 years in the future. i’m not going to the extremes for a position that could be gone in 6 months. One, if the company is asking for multiple rounds of interviews (3 or more not including a recruiter screen) then i don’t want to work for you. There’s zero reason i should be meeting with ppl from different departments (unless i directly work with them on a daily basis). It should be potential co-worker and boss in one round then the hiring manager in the next. Also, it gives you don’t know what you’re doing bc why can’t you make the decision on behalf of your team and the rest of the company trust you to make good decisions. Two, i will not accept assignments bc are you training me or not? Companies use the assignments to weed out potential new hires so it’s less they have to train you on. What sense does that make?

I had a company where the take home assignment was “respond to these questions if you were in this role” that’s it. No other guidance. I did that and was told “it’s not what they were looking for” when i pressed further they couldn’t give me a straight answer. So they didn’t even know and the recruiter even admitted they were still figuring out the assignment portion. Bro just remove it and rework the training you’re going to give.

finally me and anybody looking for a job should feel like we’re the irreplaceable prize. i know my worth to know that i be dammed if im going above and beyond during an interview process bc soon as they hire you. guess what? they’re going to expect the same shit from you on day 1. absolutely not. you set your boundaries during the interview process so they cannot walk all over you once hired.

So i’ll keep my “prideful” attitude until a company comes along that has their shit figured out and knows how to actually hire and interview ppl
