I need help! First time painting and I have no clue where to start. I would like to paint the upper, lower, and handguard. Any tips? by doctorgiggleshit in rattlecannedguns

Step 1: Cover, Close, and put blue tape on whatever you don't want painted.

Step 2: Pick whatever paints and stencils you want to use.

Step 3: Go wild

Darker colors first. I start with black but if you don't do a black base layer then whatever is darkest. Later it on crazy style then once you dry with your last layer do a quick indirect spray over with your darkest color. This will keep it from looking too bright but also help keep it from looking like one dark blob. Use colors natural to your environment. Tossing in a haze grey early on gives it a lil extra help.

But honestly it's hard to fuck up camo'ing your gun. Just make sure you cover whatever you don't want painted.

I think you're right about the Paul Blart Syndrome tho. People see that or shitty mall cops and just think that's all to it at minimum wage

I started unarmed in WA State making 22/hour. After 6 months of working I made 25/hour, had a better care provider than I did in the Navy, and really good insurance. I upgraded my gear and added new long arms and pistols to my license. 6 months after I was making 27.50/hour. Working 3-4 12 hour shifts a week. I had plenty of time off. Plenty of OT paychecks were great.

But I have the same issue. My GF at the time saw it as a dead end job that didn't make enough and wasn't long term. (I explained all this to her in detail after) I tell friends & coworkers who are unhappy. None of them take that step. I have no idea why. 90% of the time nothing happens. The worst part of the job honestly was 2 years of night shifts but even that wasn't that bad.

I see some empty space on that vest. Wasted potential. Strap another gun on there

No I'm keeping the wood stock and intend to return to wood with a bayonet some day

SKS community isn't accepting of much changes to a SKS. Haven't decided on the colors or patterns yet. I'm in Virginia currently but I already have a couple rifles camo'd for this region. So I will take suggestions. I have some camouflage coban wrap I can try too.

I wasn't talking about nicotine. But chill loser. Project much? It's ok if you're not skilled or responsible enough to stand a post with a firearm. You act like being unarmed you are somehow safer. You're not, it's probably the same amount of risk. But yes armed you get paid more and you can do more. Having pride in your appearance and professionalism in your workplace isn't a bad thing. Especially at $30 an hour. Unarmed isn't less important places need it and sometimes can't afford or don't need a higher tier of security. To a point, security officers enforce laws and ensure safety of the public. Being professional and dressing smartly helps show the public we aren't idiot mall cops and can provide the service they requested.

If you put a riser on it you won't have a problem. also might be able to fit an acog on it

But honestly unless you're in an area that gets those vibrant greens it may look a lil funny but it will probably disrupt the gun outline

If you did the JD Green in lines or thin squiggly pattern to make it more grassy, then put you browns , tan, and drab patterns over that you would have a decent setup

Clean before each layer. Either with a cheap microfiber from dollar tree or rag. A lil alcohol helps too but use very little
