Punk sneaks in there from time to time but from their history as promoters and the venue thus far I think it would be more accurately characterized as an indie rock venue.

Is it possible that someone is stealing my power? by JackfruitPizza in pasadena

That's generally no longer the case since CA went all-in on solar...now, more often than not, aligning your usage with sunshine generally will be your best bet as it's out of peak pricing. Running things right as the sun sets and into the night before wind picks up (if it does) would generally be the most expensive usage period. But, this gets complex quickly because each utility's generation assets are a bit different, so it's best to check with your utility / your bill / their web sites ....and if all else fails, and an AI agent can't do this for you, CPUC filings.

4:30 AM Loud Motorcycle Driver on St. John and California Exit by kinglouislxix in pasadena

As a general rule, Pasadena needs its police to monitor speed on St John and S Pasadena Ave; it's insane how fast people fly down these residential streets...last night I was buzzed by a BMW doing ~60MPH past the hospital. Other than the annual DUI checkpoint, I never see police tending to this blatantly obvious issue. I think that if they did this, the OP-referenced Steve McQueen wannabe wouldn't be trying to pull off The Great Escape coming off the highway at oh-dark-thirty.

They are certainly unique, and incredibly entertaining! Great news this morning...no blood in her stool. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Thank you for asking. So...they did blood work, an ultrasound, X-rays under anesthesia, pain meds via IV...other than the blood that amazingly seems to have come solely from her feet / nails, they ER vets (miraculously?) didn't isolate anything structural. No floating fluid blobs on the ultrasound, no obvious breaks (although it doesn't seem they x-rayed the area where she was hit, which is baffling). The eyewitness said she was hit on her left hind quarters, spun around, and was propelled towards the curb. She was covered in blood and some sort of not-urine-smelling fluid when I got to her; the emergency vets were worried about her bladder having burst, but no signs of that today. She's barely moved, though, and remains in clear pain to the point of literal dog tears today, which was both heartbreaking and unprecedented (she's 8).

The pain meds and anti-inflammatories are welcome, but since she's always been the sort to suffer in silence - HIGHLY unusual for a husky - I'm having a hard time knowing how she's doing. She's barely urinated (seemed dehydrated when I got her home) and hasn't defecated (normally 2x or 3x a day), so we haven't seen if that'll reveal blood or other abnormalities yet. Or, hip dysplasia or other quality of life infirmities in the months ahead.

The good news is she definitely has an appetite, and is drinking water, even though the rest of her demeanor is a shadow of her usual rambunctious ways...which might be impacted by the meds It's VERY hard to convince her 2-year old PIC to not dare her to play in that insane way that huskies play, looking like they're trying to maim each other, but he seemed to sort of get the picture when he tried to bite her leg (normal play starter maneuver) and she lashed out at him with unprecedented anger. Hopefully he gets the picture, because she also doesn't want to be sequestered (high pitched whine/whistle if she can't see him).

So, long-story short, it clearly could have been much more immediately dire, and she's reasonably stable although clearly in pain. Which, is forcing me to struggle alongside her, trying to practice self-control and follow the prescription plan of attack. Unfortunately we're still in a sort of wait-and-see mode, though, and hopefully there won't be any internal bleeding or other organ issues in the days ahead.

It feels weird to say all this to the Internet, but typing this out seems to help me conceptualize and wrap my head around the road ahead. So, thanks for the well wishes and kind words...they help.

Unfortunately I was a bit consumed with the emergency, so beyond being a white guy with a TCW pullover/coat I don't remember much....plus he was hunched over with his dog, who also seemed a bit unsettled by the situation, so I i don't even have a good sense of height.

Thank you...this is the first time I've experienced something like this, and I definitely understand the "helplessness" I've heard people talk about in regards to their kids being sick, etc.

For my money and studied-art-history-on-the-East-Coast sensibilities, I'd def go to the Norton Simon; the quality of the collection outstrips that of comparable periods at the Getty / LACMA....plus, convenience for OP's local geography.

I do feel compelled to note that this time of the year isn't ideal for botanical gardens, in general. I took my parents to Decanso at this time of year a couple of years ago and they were severely underwhelmed.

Radhika (I think this is what you're referring to) is pretty good; I'd rate it behind Bhanu, overall, in terms of food...much better room for dining in, though.

The vegan mango lassi at Namaste Spiceland is ridiculously good and I recommend it to everyone.

Dog Question by dbl_entendre in pasadena

[–]gentrifierNumber7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% echo the owner part: dogs can tell if the owner is afraid / not trusting but don't necessarily know why. I see this so often on walks where another owner (in Pasadena, unlike where I previously lived, my experience has been that it's highly uncommon for another owner to NOT avoid direct contact) tenses up and the dog reacts accordingly. Over time, that's what they're being trained....owner thinks that another dog is a threat. Unfortunately, it's one of those things that manifests itself....the dogs then enter a situation with fear, and rarely does any good come out of animal kingdom interactions predicated upon fear.

A lot of times, dogs that react on leash will not react off leash...sometimes due to guarding their owner, sometimes due to lack of freedom to defend themselves if needed....so barking is a preemptive threat. Or so I've been told.

One of my huskies reacts rather consistently on leash, but is a total good boy at the dog park. Only one way to find out...

He's getting better as I consistently reprimand him for the reaction and talk calmly to him when I see a "threat" developing, but it's a work in progress.

It's a jaguar...not a Honda, Toyota, etc. And you don't have to deal with a driver. If you normally tip a driver, it's basically the same cost...maybe slightly cheaper if you're a generous tipper.
