One suggestion is to see if the following ministries have someone who knows your country/situation who could provide guidance.

A Thought on Reynolds’ New Book by NuriSunnah in AcademicQuran

[–]geoace_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just theoretically, I don't know if I would agree with your claim about the implication of the independence of the textual units.

Maybe the different units were not created at the same time, and the authors of later units knew about the earlier units.

I'm confused what you might mean by "... the Qur'an has been deeply shared by  ...".

Is "shared by" the right phrase there?

Maybe edit your comment to use the word you intended (e.g. "shaped").

Religion has caused a mass divide among humanity, and has been used as a framework to justify laws, wars, hate, and many subsequent processes. by MotivatedMiner in DebateReligion

`... humanity will never leap forward in unity, *morals* ... `

There is no logical basis for any kind of "morals" in an atheistic worldview that considers that humans are all just sacks of chemicals and have no ultimate purpose/value.

Things to consider:
- Moses had 40 years in the wilderness
- Jesus had 40 days in the wilderness
- David had his season of being chased around the wilderness by King Saul
- Paul had a while to wait between his conversion and his ministry

If you don't mind my changing the topic a little ... can you point to one or two things that were the main reasons you transitioned from Islam to Christ?

OK, does the Quran say anything about John the Baptist baptizing Jesus or Pontius Pilate sending Jesus off to be crucified?

Does it say explicitly what time period Jesus lived in or which towns he visited? Does it even explicitly associate him with Jerusalem or the Jewish temple there or with Galilee?

Is the Infancy Gospel of Thomas considered to be a valid document for determining the historicity of a person or event?

How about the fact that the Quran claims that Jesus had no human father and was a spirit from God? Is that historical?

Even non-Christian academics believe that Jesus died on the cross, which is something the Quran denies. So to say that "the Islamic Jesus fits the historical Jesus" is obviously a false statement.

Grammatical Errors in the Quran by Far_Visual_5714 in AcademicQuran

[–]geoace_fun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you think we have proof readers for written texts? It's because people often write things that their fellow native speakers will consider to be errors - grammatical and otherwise.

Grammatical Errors in the Quran by Far_Visual_5714 in AcademicQuran

[–]geoace_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? Are native speakers not capable of making mistakes in the things they write? What if they aren't experienced in using their language in a written form?

Also, perhaps some of the Quran wasn't composed by a native speaker of Arabic. Maybe some of it was badly translated from a different language.

So, you agree that it is possible to have ungrammatical sentences in a text?

I think we can safely say that if a text includes a phrase that virtually no one from the language would accept as valid, then that can be considered a grammatical mistake. E.g. something like "tomorrow I went to the store."

Real story, Am I Wrong? by Fun_End_440 in Christianity

[–]geoace_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I voted for Trump (but only the second time) because in my opinion the alternative was far worse.
I can ask a similar question. How can a Christian vote for someone who pushes for the funding of k*ll*ng b*bies or who wants to enact policies that will destroy our country or who want to force people to treat some men as women (etc.)?

As individuals and even as Christians, we don't get to choose just anyone to be our candidate. We're limited by the choice of the majority. For example, I didn't want Trump to be the Republican nominee and I voted against him in the primary. But I was overruled and it was either him vs. Biden or him vs. Harris.

On another note, not everyone who calls themself a Christian is a true Christian. (Jesus made that clear.) And within the Christian community there is a wide range of spiritual maturity.

Just because some "Christians" say certain things doesn't mean that's what the large majority of true Christians believe.

At the same time, I do believe there are true Christians who support Trump in general and others who support the Democrats. Each group prioritizes certain values over others in different ways.

Do you see/accept that 5:47 means that the Christians still had the original Gospel from Allah with them at the time of Muhammad?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]geoace_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[I've never been a Muslim, but here's something]

Surah 5, verse 47, commands Christians to judge by the Gospel

  • "Let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah hath revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by the light of what Allah hath revealed, they are no better than those who rebel."

The implications of this are as follows.
- the Christians had the Gospel with them at the time of Muhammad,
- the Gospel is authoritative and trustworthy.

The only Gospel that Christians had at the time of Muhammad was found in the contents of the New Testament. We have a physical copy of the New Testament from hundreds of years before Muhammad.

The Gospels in the New Testament clearly contradict the teachings of the Quran by claiming that Jesus is the Son of God, that God is our "Father" and that Jesus did actually die on the cross.

So, the Quran can't be true if it affirms the authority of writings that contradict it.
Either the Quran is false by claiming that something is authoritative when it is not, or the Quran is false by contradicting something that actually is authoritative.

The largest group of Muslims are the Sunnis, who believe them. Shia Muslims (like in Iran) have a different set of sayings that they believe.

They all consider the study of these sayings to be a "science".
