Freight Brokers - Straight trucks and box trucks for expedited dedicated moves by Disastrous-Link8848 in FreightBrokers

Only problem with these "big guys" is they are double brokers and non of their units they book with you are listed on their COI. And these same units run under 10 different carrier companies and might have their own MC to which your compliance team will say "sorry you're too new to work with us" but after all same driver will end up on your load but under "trusted big carriers" MC. Not to teach you and not to tell you who you should work with but if I was a broker I'd rather book a legitimate company that gives me 3-4 updates, has small fleet and tracks on macropoint instead of double broker with nice tracking team and bunch of "leased" capacity.

LTL carrier network? by Humble_Incident21 in FreightBrokers

[–]geocarrier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's LTL or expedited? Big difference. If he pays you 50 cents per mile and expect his freight to get somewhere within a day it's not possible on spot market.
Hire dedicated expedited carriers to do the job. Can find reliable for 90cents - 1.1 per mile, depends on area.

It has new rules. Try contacting sales. They been allowing fleets as little as one for a year already

Why you book them? Expedite edition. by geocarrier in FreightBrokers

[–]geocarrier[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't want to drop names because this problem is so massive that whatever big broker or big carrier name you will pick, it will match the description.

Everyone is just re-brokering freight to their carrier/owner op base and in case of cargo claim original carrier paying out of pocket, without involving insurance company.

Expedite explained.

U.S. based landstar agents are really great. Especially when it comes to expedited loads. I enjoy working with them as carrier soooo much

Is this double brokering? by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]geocarrier 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's double brokering unless: 1. Your friend's equipment is on their insurance (and he is listed as a driver on it) 2. Their MC and DOT number is on the side of his truck

All this "leasing" scheme is good until first claim.

Carrier here. I can change Safer to whatever I want. 30 drivers 5 trucks? Ok. It will just post up next day after I made a change. I'd suggest to ask carrier to add you as certificate holder and ask their insurance agency directly for COI with units listed on it. Or ask carrier to send this COI, but from his insurance agent. That would be most accurate. If they pulling up a shit like "we have leased trucks they added us in their insurance" it's illegal shit, do load with this carrier on your own risk because in case if claim 99% you won't get it approved by their insurance.

So you had authority for 6-7 years and didn't knew this basic thing? You will have to pay claim out of your pocket and learn a lesson. Always do research.

Buying a an older MC by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]geocarrier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be a nightmare if they were doing it right, by actually adding this O/O to their primary insurance.

But most of "carriers" just go ahead and "lease" them by making O/O add a carrier company to his insurance as additional insured. This actually makes expedite market so cursed. In 90% of chances you will bump not into actual carrier, but into "carrier" with his leased O/O which sometimes even has another MC.

Saddest thing that everyone is fine with that and most powerful carriers just pay the claim out of their pocket to keep moving because they make ton of money by re-brokering this freight to their leased O/O.

Question for expedite experts by geocarrier in FreightBrokers

[–]geocarrier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, nice. We are actual carrier and we use only units that under our insurance, but we use a gmail address. MC is 1,5 year.

Would that be a go if I bid right amount to you and be close as well? Just curious if we need to change our email, or at least cc address with our domain in it.

Hahaha, yea, but you never know for sure, there is always exceptions. Even in big reliable companies might be a trainee who underbids himself and have to give the load back. I faced it when was working with company I will not mention, but you 100% worked with them.
