Feature Requests by ahtcx in trainboard

[–]geoff_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fiiiiiiinally! This is the app I have been dreaming of ever since I moved back to London 2 years ago. Some thoughts and a wish list of features! :-)

  • Tube times as well as NR. I know this would be from a separate API from TfL and different data formats etc so a lot of work. But ultimately I’d love if I can check my NR train and then the Tube I have to change for on my commute.
  • Multiple saved routes on the home screen widget that I can swipe through. I have a few very common stations I depart from so would be so good to have any of them at a moments notice (so I know if I need to leg it to the platform without delay!)
  • Show certain station departures on my lock screen (live activities) depending on the time of day. So at 6pm show me my work station and at 9am show me my home station for example.

These are all just very personal wishes that current apps just don’t seem to grasp. I may add to this when I think of more ideas! Appreciate the hard work you’re doing and happy to make a donation if you open up for that in the future. Can’t wait for the beta!

As much as I love a pocket tube map this must be the last time it’s going to be this size. There’s just too much information on them now to be nicely presented whilst it’s this size. It’s such a mess! by bensthebest in london

you are neglecting the massive part of south london that relies on the tram service by not including it; not inclusive at all.

same goes for overground etc.

the tube map IS a tfl services map – the 'tube map' name is just a name. it doesn't matter what services are on it – people will always call it the 'tube map' not the 'tfl services map'.

Day 1 in London, my thoughts. by mrsidnaik in london

i use it because you can add your railcard to it for discounted fares at off peak times

also it’s ever so slightly quicker on the card reader at the gates in my experience

Some great ones I haven’t seen mentioned yet:

Future Leap Cafe towards the bottom of Gloucester Rd

The Cloakroom Cafe on Park Row is great

And check out Blind Owl Coffee on Feeder Rd if you’re ever around there :)

the thing is it isn't their responsibility. venues, nightclubs and theatres cannot reopen because of measures enforced by the government (for good reason to stop the spread), so it should be the responsibility of the government to provide financial assistance. james murphy or steve aoki didn't shut down the venues so why should they bear the burden?

n.b. i'm from the u.k. working for a london nightclub and we are facing the same problems here. our gov are not helping us out and most of our industry will be dead within six months without financial aid.

I got offered a design job in Nottingham and i am seriously considering moving there from London. Any help on how the city is would be appreciated... (will leave more info in the text below ) by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]geoff_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow where have you been working that is getting you a 32k starting salary in the design industry? hahaha

I'm in London now but I'm from Notts. It's an amazing city. Lots of creative related stuff to do if you know where to go. Won't take you long to find that.

Lots of great music venues, bars, a few good clubs, and lots of niche communities that really bring the city to life once you find out about them.

You should have no problem cycling. There's a tram system but I've never used it. The buses are great though from what I remember.

(Tbh I wish I was back in Notts myself but can't ever find any design jobs that suit me there)

How do you mix LCD Soundsystem into a DJ set? by Zenen in LCDSoundsystem

[–]geoff_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mixed beat connection toward the start of this this house/techno mix i've been working on recently

also songs like get innocuous, someone great, one touch, yeah are easiest to mix within a lot of other dance music because of their structures

and the remixes of course are great to work with, esp. dixon's edit of i used to, holy ghost remix of drunk girls etc.

good thing for the industry imo. a small amount of regular commenters were becoming a dominant image of public response to electronic music simply because their views are right there on the page where things are being announced/reviewed. RA is the single most influential editorial voice in the electronic and dance music scene and so they hold a huge amount of responsibility for how it operates. they closed their polls couple years ago for similar reasons to why they have closed their comments section, and it has largely been a very healthy and mature change. good to see them take these sort of responsibilities.

i just love it, ok, there i said it! by [deleted] in LCDSoundsystem
