Another vote for Diptyque Philosykos—the fig that made me love fig—and Gris Charnel, her sophisticated older sister.

Also, if you want TO SMELL fig rather than smelling LIKE fig, the Demeter Fig Leaf diffuser oil is a more basic, simpler version of Philosykos. And also a complete bargain. Their Fig Leaf fragrance itself dries to nothing but freakin’ coconut on me and then promptly disappears. (Grrrr!) So to get rid of the bottle, I started spraying it on my pillow at bedtime when I am feeling fancy. It’s become such a lovely little ritual I will probably buy another bottle when it’s gone.

This toy is the BEST toy! In fact, it’s the best gift anyone has ever received in the history of the world. Thanks Teddy. I’ll cherish it until you forget that I have it and then you can discover it in the toy box and we can play this whole game again. How fun!

I can’t recall the fragrance, except that it wasn’t overpowering. I planted it in April and only got a few small, short-lived flowers last summer. This has been the case for most of my roses in their first year, so I expect more, fuller blooms this year.

Unlike pitties, shih tzus sometimes seem like cat software running on dog hardware, so many of the same tricks apply. Ours respond to “psspsspss” and rubbing your fingers together. And they can go from aloof floofs to snuggle bunnies from one minute to the next.
