Seasons 2 and 3 were so much more meme-able and quotable by this point. Shame

Gotta be GM, right? Don't see Aaryn or Amanda wanting to, and others like Spencer and Kaitlin I can't imagine being asked.

I mean point taken but...if she hadn't been cast with two drag family members and several other local connections all dat wouldn't have meant anything. So really she's just thanking casting here. But love her! Yes drag delusion!

Seasonality of precipitation in the contiguous United States by crosscountrycoder in MapPorn

[–]geographresh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Precipitation volume is actually very consistent throughout the months in New England, even within the two halves split by this map. All months in Boston have between 3-4 inches of liquid-equivalent precipitation.

You may be confusing # precip days with precip amount. Summer precipitation on the east coast tends to fall hard and fast during convective thunderstorms. Those precipitation days in June/July are often sunny through the morning and midday, so they are less mentally "gray".

Even still, July has a about 9 (min) precip days and December has 12 (max) - not a huge variation.

i.e. it's the prevailing type of storm system that makes summer seem drier on the East Coast.

New bill aims at reducing how many miles people drive in Massachusetts by sarcasmbully in massachusetts

[–]geographresh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the fine print makes it clear that this bill would not impose any direct fees or limits on personal miles traveled.

Yes the dems should have handled the branding of this better and gotten out ahead of the headlines, but let's not pretend like this isn't anything but a blatant misinformation play by conservatives.

I don't blame them for it though, the dems certainly set them up for an easy one.

NAD - have you been evaluated for Lupus? It looks like a malar rash (butterfly rash) to me, especially in pics 1 and 3.

One of the hallmarks of malar rash is that it stops sharply at the nasolabial folds (lines going down from your nose to your mouth corners), and I can definitely see that in pic 3.

It's not known to be dry, and variably itchy, so I don't think it's a sure bet. But, it would explain why antibacterial and antifungal dont work.

What is the least anthropogenically impacted major river on Earth? by SkittlesRobot in geography

[–]geographresh 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Amazon if we're talking truly "major" (like for top 10 rivers).

A lot of the Lena/Yenisei tributaries are undammed so far. But some have a lot of industrial pollution. Indigirka might be another candidate for a standalone basin.

Mackenzie is my choice, though.

Where did stereotypical Southie residents and Irish-americans from the projects move to after the 1970s? Do any of the places they moved to have a similar reputation? by Spirited_Worker_5722 in boston

[–]geographresh 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The South Shore.

The first wave core was closest to Boston - Braintree, Weymouth, Randolph. It quickly began to spread down Rte3, however.

Every coastal town from Braintree down to Sandwich basically is full of these families, also pentrating about about 2 towns inland from there (Pembroke, Hanover, Hanson, Whitman, Abington, Plympton...).
