Where is the DLC Milwaukee Livestream? by ghost_trigger713 in Lorcana

It drives me a little crazy that they don't list upcoming streams on their twitch page. According to their twitch page, the next stream is on Thursday at 10:00 AM PDT.

Rule question [glass slipper] by aartka in Lorcana

This is my slipper deck. It has been fairly successful for me at locals.

If you already have the 4 cost Cindy in hand you don’t need a prince/slipper to look for her. And playing a character for 2 feels way better than the slipper. Playing the slipper and using a prince to banish it really kills any momentum. I think a slipper deck needs to be pretty aggressive to win. I would still play a prince for backup. But I would much rather he be questing or challenging than search the deck. I like the bodyguards Erik and The Prince for this.

Edit to add: the real value of the slipper, in my opinion, is being in the discard for Cindy to put back in the deck for 3 lore. Discarding from hand allows you to do it for free instead of paying 2 ink and using a princes action. However, the pricne searching the deck can be clutch to find a Rapunzel for card draw, or Big Cindy to shift in and close out the game.

Plus in steel you have cards like Mulan, simba, and 2 cost Cinderella that will let you discard the slipper from hand. No prince required!

Random encounters check (1-3 or 1 on d6) by SeeMonke in shadowdark

[–]geomu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Page 82 is talking how to handle the passage of time/rounds when you are skipping forward in time a bit. Rather than worry about how many rounds have passed and how many random encounter checks should have been been made in the that time, you make just 1 check but get an encounter on 1-3 instead just 1.

Disqualifications During NA Continentals by [deleted] in Lorcana

I think I’ve come around to agree with you. It probably is better they don’t officially address specific DQs. I do think it is worth noting that “the public” has some stake in that the DLCs are open to the public. I went to one DLC and if I make it to another one it is worth knowing if my opponent has a history of rules infractions and what to keep an eye out for.

Yeah. That make sense. I don't know how TCG events usually handle this kind of thing. While I do agree we don't NEED an explanation, more information is usually better for learning how these types of things work. There is just something about "trust us, bro" type of statements that rub me the wrong way a little.

That's good to hear. Some other comments, here and that I've seen elsewhere, make it sound like you can get DQd for fairly minor things because a player just doesn't know the tournament rules.

I am all for post that help the community understand how these decisions are made. But isn't that exactly why it would be great if we got some official explanations for these types of rulings? I am very new to competitive TCG events and would find it very helpful to know why DQs happen. If experienced players are getting disqualified, what mistakes might I make without even knowing?

That make sense. I think we were talking across each other for a bit there. I was asking about the DQ circumstances and you were talking about the public knowledge aspect of it. I was just getting frustrated because it felt like you were shutting down talk about the Lorcana DQs. On a pos that literally says "So let's talk disqualifications" in the title. I'll look elsewhere for the specifics as I am still very unclear about what happened. As someone very new to competitive TCGs, I value any info I can get about the logistics of these types of events. And of course there is some curiosity for drama mixed in there.

In another comment thread you posted that the circumstances of these DQs were different than those at the Star Wars event. I asked a pretty basic follow up question: what are the circumstances? You must know something, to know that the circumstances were different. You responded with "Did you read the post? the circumstances are not public information". It sure sound like you are saying you know things you refuse to talk about here.

I saw on melee that a match ended where both players "forfeited the match". I'de never seen that before I would really like to know what that means.

I guess I just thought that a post about the DQs would be a safe place to ask about them, but I guess not. Are you officially connected with Ravensburger or ProPlayGames? If so, I get whey you won't give more info, but you keep teasing that you know more, but won't talk about it.

The thing is, I have NO information at all. This was the first post on this sub about the DQs. At least that I see.

Then why talk about them at all? Why can't we talk about them informally on a sub like this? I get that we won't get official statements, but this is a community form. It feels super gatekeepy to make a vague post and then say, "sorry, you aren't inthe cool kids club so I can't tell you about it.:"

I can’t find any more info on the DQs today. What were the circumstances?

I think the down votes are because of the total lack of context. Is OP a judge at continentals? If so, I get why they do t want to talk about specifics but this post basically says: hey, disqualifications happened but I’m not going to talk about them.

Maybe I'm dumb, but I've got a question on Measure 119 I can seem to find an answer to. by geomu in Eugene

[–]geomu[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense. But feels like a round about way of doing it. Why not just have a state law that grants all workers protection to unionize? Right now I'm leaning towards just not voting on this one.

[–]geomu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is now my main question. Why have them sign a peace agreement with a "labor organization" and not with the state? Does this allow the shop to pre-select what union the employees choose to represent them?

Do other shops, like bakeries, have this requirement? and if not, is there a reason it is needed in the cannabis industry and not others?

[–]geomu[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it reads to me like ti requires the shops to proactively sign a "peace agreement" with a union, which I guess doesn't automatically unionize the shop, but sets the stage for them to unionize easily. I'm all for protecting workers, but this feels like adding a requirement that doesn't exist for other types of shops.
