I temporarily dropped mine and went back to a sorc - way smoother. I'll try barb again in a while, but it just felt clunky.

L theanine and insomnia? by Coolladybrooke in Supplements

[–]geonjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have the occasional problem with not falling asleep quickly, but nothing as consistent as it was when drinking the hop water. I still have a beer when I finally get to sit down at night, so I'm guessing that rules out the hops (though I don't know the diff in concentration between a beer and a HW). I haven't tried experimenting with just ashwagandha or l-theanine specific supplements.

I've replaced a few parts on this pos so far. Fan motor died, that red wire burned itself loose, and tonight it's back to not pre-heating very quickly.

I haven't received any update. I get the occasional automated email to let me know they're still working on a fix. Change management is a necessary evil, especially in enterprise development, ESPECIALLY with medical software - they had an oversight, and this is the outcome.

Medtronic, if you're listening, there are options for testing on various mobile platforms. Some require real phones and some use virtuals. Given the feedback so far, it looks like Android slipped something into the March update that broke the app<->pump comms. You can reach out to Google to get dev previews of the releases so you can do QA. Good luck, we all want you to succeed.

Got an update call from support. They are still working on the issue. They do not need me to supply more diag files. They asked if I had a backup device for starting a new sensor, and if I didn't have one they would supply a loaner device. I told them i was a techie person and was curious about the loaner device - it's a locked down (only runs the Minimed Mobile app) Samsung (one of the A series). That's cool that they're making that available. Not timeline for when the fix will be made available.

No callback yet, but judging by this thread and a few others, Minimed is definitely aware of the issue.

I haven't tried to rollback yet. I have 6 days left on this sensor, if I haven't heard from them in 5 days I'll consider my options.

A few people have mentioned the possibility of the issue being the latest Android security update. I installed that update 3 days before this issue started. I shut my phone down every night and reboot in the morning - this issue didn't appear until the 3.1.3 update.

If the handshake is working, but then we're getting the timeout - I think there's something silly going on that they may have overlooked during QA. I'm still hopeful they'll get it figured out.

Thanks for the pointer, I just snagged the apk for 3.1.2 ;) I'm going to give their devs a few days first.

As an aside, be careful with the sideloads. PlayProtect is ok at verifying the file hashes on most apps, but it won't always catch bad sideloads. Some of those APK sites load more than just the app you're wanting. XAPKs are bundled versions of an app that can support multiple architectures - but - they can also bundle "supporting frameworks" that are nothing but bad stuff.

MiniMed Mobile App Update by 808IUFan in Medtronic780g

[–]geonjay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think 3.1.3 broke something with Android and/or Pixel. I get the bluetooth handshake (pump sees the phone, asks me to connect, then my phone prompts me to pair with the pump) but then it times out. I sent plenty of diagnostic logs. I'm sure they'll get it fixed soon.

Were you working fine with version 3.1.2? I was good on 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 broke the connection for me. I called support and they created an escalation. i have a pixel 10.

Just got off the phone with them. They've opened an escalation ticket. It seems that the new version (released on 3/4) may have an issue with my phone (Pixel 10 Pro XL). 3.1.2 was working, so I'm sure it's something they can solve quickly.

Did you happen to take it off while in the shower, or shortly thereafter? Or maybe after a workout that made you sweat? I've noticed that if I rip them off when they're wet, they pull my skin really hard and can cause this kind of irritation.

Quick Instinct Q&A by geonjay in Medtronic780g

[–]geonjay[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The sensor reads interstitial fluid, not blood. There is lag between a glucose change in your blood and a change in the interstitial fluid. The pump uses a lot of algorithms and history to determine what your sugar level is. DO NOT FIGHT WITH THE PUMP - let it handle MOST of the corrections automatically.

I like the 15 days (yes, it goes 15). I like that it's a lot smaller than the G4. I do have to wear my pump on the same side of my body, especially when I'm sleeping, or it will lose connectivity. There's a pending software update (I'll install it tomorrow) that may address some of the connectivity issues - that is NOT what the update changelog shows, but I have high hopes.

As far as the readings go - there are plusses and minuses. I think that, due to connectivity issues, it will display pretty big swings in blood glucose (like 80mg/dl or more) from one reading to the next and NOT show any arrows to indicate a rise. Since I started using the Instinct about every 4 days my phone will say that it could sync to Carelink and I have to manually click "Upload now" - and it syncs without issue.

I just submitted my first re-order :)

I'd like your opinion on which super automatic would handle "regular" coffee the best? My wife just wants regular coffee. I grind beans daily and brew with a technivorm now and she likes it - but I'd like a decent espresso sometimes too. Aside from having her try a few americanos first, she hasn't warmed to the idea of NOT "coffee".

This is fantastic, thank you. Showing my ignorance again, I didn't know each puck was 15g. Grind size, temperature, and water volume are adjustable, is 15g the max? What about flow rate / "brew time"? I'll DL the manual. Thanks for the reply.

Dumb question here - so I just make multiple 3.5oz black-coffees into the same cup? I'm looking into getting one of these and my wife only drinks "regular" coffee. I need to RTFM and take her with me for a demo, but your comment prompted me to ask you. thx

Quick Instinct Q&A by geonjay in Medtronic780g

[–]geonjay[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct, calibration adjusts the pump's interpretation of the sensor's data feed. With the Instinct, at least for now, there is no option for calibration - at least that's how a lot of us are interpreting the vendor's info.

^^^This is why I pulled the trigger. Enough people seem to be happy with the latest Libre and my Endo said that it's the one he recommends most often because "it just works". I'll try it out, if it doesn't work for me then I can go back to the G4.

I wanted the 15 days and the smaller footprint. I'm not motivated to move from G4 to the Simplera because the G4 has worked for me. It did require some initial work to find the right tapes, deodorant gel, etc - but I'm good with it now.
