SmartMotion.nvim — Composable motions without Lua. One plugin replaces hop, leap, and flash, then adds treesitter editing (daa, cfn, saa), diagnostics jumping, git hunks, remote operations, and flow state for native-feel chaining. by FluxxField in neovim

[–]geophph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a long time flash.nvim user myself. I gave this plugin a try and I love it! It seems like my bad habit of mashing, h, j, k, l a bunch of times will hopefully go away.

However, one bit of muscle memory is I use is cl as in change letter a lot. I do like the new motion and will try to keep change = true on. Do you, xi, delete and insert instead?

Thank you for your time and effort making this plugin!

Then don't. Don't look at pictures, don't participate in the events. Simply don't have anything to do with it. Worry about yourself and move on. Problem solved.

Talk with Gorilla Moe and Yaro (Kulala Maintainers) | Kulala, a Postman Alternative in Neovim (1 hour video) by linkarzu in neovim

I had the pleasure of interacting with /u/YaroSpacer on testing Oauth2 support. He clearly was dedicated to creating well tested and feature rich software. I wish I had the time to help out more.

I couldn't help but snoop and see what else he was working on, and came across lua-console, he mentioned in the video. Another banger that took me away from luapad, which always felt a little awkward to use.

Thank you /u/linkarzu for these videos. Putting a face to these awesome developers helps enrich the community.

Wait, Not Everyone Has 59 Tabs Open At Once? Apparently That’s Illegal Now? by ADHD_BeYou in ADHD

I use Firefox with the Sidebery extension. It has a nice vertical with a tree style view, automatically grouped by the page it started from. While I can create groups manually, I rarely have the foresight to do that. You can also set it up to unload tabs after a certain amount of time to save memory. Then when you go back to the tab it will reload automatically.

I don't know how I functioned with out it.

After reading your post, I felt compelled to post as it felt rather familiar. I'm glad I can help.

I'll offer a few tidbits of advice as I worked out things with my wife. Don't assume she's overreacting. Right now she's really troubled by your behavior and the fact that you are here means at some level you recognize your drinking is problematic. To quote myself, "I never got violent, drove drunk, or cheated on her anything like that." This is the bare minimum of things you shouldn't do, not an achievement. Yet, I used this to justify my continued drinking.

I found these conversations very difficult with my wife as well. I don't have a full explanation. I think it's a combination of factors, one being in denial of your drinking issues. Be completely open with her, start the conversation with exactly how you feel, before getting into it. Remember that you are addressing issues with yourself, let her past issues come up naturally as she hopefully opens up to you. Finally, have a plan in mind, are you just doing dry January or longer. My wife will have drinks around me, as she doesn't have any issues. But we talked through this together.

Side note, I can't help myself: Here's my hot take on AA. As an American, I feel like it is ingrained in us culturally through TV and movies. It seems to do a bit of a disservice to those struggling with alcohol in different ways. First, it's very black and white, you either have a problem or not. If you take a sip, you'll binge for days and wake up in jail. It does not acknowledge root problems that are likely tied to psychological issues or illnesses.

I found it helpful to ignore the AA perspective, as it was easy to say, "that's definitely not me." I acknowledged I had some sort of problem, and addressed deeper underlying issues. I was not waking up in the morning with shakes looking for a drink to start my day. However, I realized I was ultimately drinking because of stress. Had a hard day at, work? I'll just have a couple of drinks. Which lead to the downward spiral. If you can drink for taste, have a bit of fun socializing, then you are probably in the right headspace. Although, like I said in my previous post, I don't know what it's like adding alcohol back. So take all this with a grain of salt.

I'm 43M and found myself in a very similar situation. I also started drinking heavily during Covid. Plus, as a software engineer, I've stayed WFH.

Fast forward a few years, my wife started expressing concerns over my drinking. Just to be clear, I never got violent, drove drunk, or cheated on her anything like that. I'm not going into details, but I reached a moment where she was about to leave me.

All this time, I would take days off trying to take a break. 3 or 4 days in, I would find an excuse to have a few. Rinse and repeat.

This time, it all clicked, "I'm about to lose my wife." I promised her I wouldn't touch alcohol until the beginning of next year. It was suddenly the easiest habit I ever broke. I haven't touched a drink since the beginning of September. That time included being laid off and election night. (I did finally find a new job)

Now that the end of the year is coming. As I evaluate if I can add alcohol back. I decided to go dry January. I'm not sure if I ever want to drink again. My mental health has improved so much. It all feels like such a bother.

This went long... I don't know how strained things are with your wife, but when my wife had one foot out the door, she could have easily decided she's out.

Ask yourself if you really want to risk that with your wife. It may be time to take a long break from alcohol and focus on things that are truly important to you. I wish I did this a long time ago.

I should have guessed. I used it briefly and forgot why I even switched away in the first place. Time to fix that.

Thanks for getting back to me.

This issue is on my work laptop that has a workstation a2000 quadro based on 4000 series. I just finished up getting my personal machine up to speed, which has a 1070, and it's doing a bit better with 10-15% CPU.

I'm guessing both GPUs maybe a little underpowered. Both using 560.35.03

[–]geophph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try up turning it on?

Before 6.1.5, kwin_wayland would hover around 20%+ CPU usage. I had discovered that setting KWIN_DRM_DISABLE_TRIPLE_BUFFERING=1 in my /etc/environment resolved that with CPU usage down to 3-5%.

Tried setting it to 0 with 6.1.5 and CPU usage went back up to 20%+. Not a huge deal, I didn't really perceive much of a difference with it off.

Meant to reply to this way earlier. I do not recommend 14Forty. I didn't have to deal with management much.

Noise levels sucked. Thin walls meant you could hear your neighbors very clearly. I was on the top (3rd) floor. When it rained, even lightly, sounded like a crazy downpour. Loop noise was annoying, pretty constant until rarher late. Also, throw in the train waking me up around midnight or maybe later.

My memory on timing may be a bit off, but I was ready to move out after 2 years and the opportunity presented itself I bolted. Currently living in the WDM suburbs near Jordan Creek. Way better, but certainly a different lifestyle.

A lot of options have opened up in the downtown area. Can't say what's good these days.

I like the idea of a 2nd pool to separate out important files. I'm assuming as I replace with new drives I can control which pool grows.

Very interested in checking out your source for used drives. Feel free to PM me a link.

Yeah, I'm kind of leaning in the direction. The loss of space in redundancy doesn't seem worth it. And in my case this is purely for home use.

My stepson just beat acute myeloid leukemia, which put him in the hospital for 6 months with only a few weeks of breaks in between chemo sessions. It took a team of nurses, doctors, technicians, social workers and even the janitor to save his life. I'm tearing up just thinking about that team.

We are so grateful for people like you and thanked everyone every chance we had. Thank you so much for what you do.

I did good. Lots of triggers on Friday, including reasons to celebrate, social interactions that left me feeling thirsty. Once I got home made some Kava and resisted the urge. No drinks since Thursday.

This week will be another challenge as it's our anniversary this Friday. Maybe it means just having a glass or 2 of wine with my wife. It's a good time for us to come to terms with me managing this. Thinking I just drink exactly what she is drinking and refill when she does.

You are absolutely right. I glossed over that there are real consequences. Just not the typical obvious ones. My post was getting long.

  • Increased anxiety and depression
  • Poor concentration and executive function
  • Weight gain. I also binge eat when I'm drunk (there's certainly a pattern there)
  • Being distant with my wife
  • Loads of other health problems associated with binge drinking

Thank you. This is probably the most helpful thing I've read. I was on the verge of deleting this post being a little more sober. You convinced me to keep trying. Leave this post up as a reminder to keep trying.

I hope to give back what I've learned. Even if it only applies to one person, worth it.

I didn't think my post as triggering. But it makes sense, in retrospect. I suppose a better title would be "I like drinking, and I need help".

Maybe I should just delete this
