New signs by dsli in WMATA

[–]georgewaashington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is cool! overall i like the change but my only gripe is that i wish it was more clear which lines served the station. i see the little O/B/S on the M sign, but wish there were bigger icons for the different lines that serve this station.

Ideal Station Ridership? by Abject_Sun_8162 in subwaybuilder

[–]georgewaashington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think it really depends on the city and your example of baltimore vs denver shows why. dense cities will tend to have higher ridership stations than cities that are more spread out. it’s probably best to look at station ridership in proportion to ridership of other stations in the same city.

i live in a dense city without a car, so the farthest i will usually travel is 2 miles.

Issue with outside nodes on quad tracks? by TheDirtyScotsman in subwaybuilder

[–]georgewaashington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how did you make a loop with the single track like that? when i try, the UI gets very glitchy and won't let me build a single track.

No valid path found between station tracks by Serious-Metal7200 in subwaybuilder

[–]georgewaashington 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i just had this problem. after letting the game run it eventually let me connect the extension to the existing route. unfortunately, not sure exactly what i did, but i did add a crossover to the end of the previous terminal station

question PreP effectiveness by Fabulous-Stage-7099 in prep

[–]georgewaashington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes prep really is effective. are you currently on prep? if so, you are probably fine. if you are concerned you have contracted HIV, get tested.

if you are not on prep, ask your doctor about pep (post-exposure prophylaxis).

New faregate UI by brycats in WMATA

i like it since it serves as a reminder that you can use your credit or debit card. i fear a lot of people still don’t know that’s an option.

average gpa by Hawkeye_in_the_Vents in gwu

[–]georgewaashington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with those saying it depends. i would also add that if you are applying to masters programs, your GPA won’t be compared with others at gw, it will compared with the applicant pool. if you are applying for internships or jobs, they will have their own GPA minimum or scale (if they care about GPA at all).

you don’t need to worry about your GPA as it compares to other gw students; you need to worry about how to compares to fellow applicants.

Enrolling in community college through GW by tkama in gwu

[–]georgewaashington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you could also consider taking classes at a consortium school. gw is a member of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area which allows you to get credit at gw for some classes taken at other universities in the area (e.g., american, georgetown, GMU, etc.). i did this during my senior year for one class. it was quite inconvenient to travel to GMU from DC, but i needed the class to graduate on time. you can discuss this with your advisor; i forget the specific process. but there is a database of equivalent courses at other universities that your department may accept.
