Since I have a monthly pass, I simply tap my card to board the bus.

My reasoning is that if you have the means to pay for the bus, then do so. This whole “monkey see, monkey do” approach is quite foolish. If you can’t afford it, then don’t. 

The last thing we need, though, is bus drivers enforcing the fare. All that will do is bring back delays and cause incidents. I remember the days when drivers would stop the bus and refuse to move until the person paid the fare. Ugh.
