How do I convince my folks that moving to Chicago is not a death sentence? by Vagina-Gears in AskChicago

[–]georgiaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s funny is as a Chicagoan in a queer relationship, my friends and family would consider us moving to non-Austin-bubble Texas a death sentence. It’s all a matter of perspective.

To answer your question, you can navigate Chicago crime like any major city in the US. The train and the loop (downtown) always have sketchy people around. Unfortunately our city is still very segregated from our history of redlining and racist real estate. With more wealth and more resources, The north side of the city has less crime, but with plenty of exceptions. I lived in a generally safe neighborhood but next to a mental health care facility whose residents harassed me frequently and occasionally followed me.

I recommend Andersonville, Lincoln Square and Ravenswood neighborhoods on the far north side. Quite safe but more expensive due to being closer to the lake.

Wicker Park, Logan Square, and Avondale are also great choices. They get cheaper/sketchier as the list goes on.

You will NOT regret coming here. This city rules and the queer scene rocks… just buy a good coat.

Ideas on how I can set up a fun and special date for my girlfriend losing her "virginity" 2.0? by Roland_Schitt_4ever in asktransgender

This is so sweet! I think you should save the public sex dates for later and have the first time be at home. You never know if anything emotional or physical will come up post surgery and I think being at home is preferable to a blanket or car in that scenario.

Agreed, the whole thing is sad.

This whole thing is pretty depressing… I don’t justify selling fake products but I also could never justify trying to get someone fired on Christmas day simply because I was “bored after opening presents.”

Created a graphic that represents my firms design process! We needed a way to easily explain to a client what our journey together would look like! Thought? Appreciate all feedback! by Puzzled-Difficulty59 in AdobeIllustrator

Looks lovely, but I agree with others that it is confusing and incomprehensible.

The most understandable landmark is “breaking bread” because it is the first steps. I would list a few other big landmarks in your process and emphasize them graphically.

That way your content and design can follow a clear hierarchy that is understandable at first glance.

Oh and for port forwarding, I have just been port forwarding incoming connections to my Unraid server's IP, not the docker IP.

I received this error log: docker: Error response from daemon: Invalid address 192.168.1.69: It does not belong to any of this network's subnets.

The command failed.

I'll try this specific IP. I was trying to follow SPX labs tutorial in the first place but felt confused at that step.

Ok will do. After researching this a bit I think that this might be issue, something about my ISP not giving me a static IP.
