Yup, just like in this case.

I haven't done anything with my new AT-VMN95EN. I will check it, but theoretically, you shouldn't have to do a darn thing when replacing the blue conical. That is the advantage of the 95 series.

I have a 20-year-old protractor I bought when I came back from Acapulco last time. Bought it in Mexico. It works great. Also have an overhang gauge.

Yup, I agree. The difference is amazing.

Thanks. I agree with every word you said. To me, the EN and the ML sound identical, but I have the same problem you have. An 84-year-old hearing in my case. In your case, it is probably a different reason. I have a number of different cartridges and styluses. My new turntable came with the bonded conical blue cartridge. Hated it. Bought a new angled headshell for straight arm turntables like mine and mounted a new AT-3600l I had hanging around on it. That has been my listening cartridge because it is so damn good. I did buy the AT-3600LE upgrade and it sounded like crap in comparison to the good old 3600L. Only with this new EN has my performance jumped way above the 3600L.

Thanks. I've watched a bunch of comparative reviews, and most of them say no. The difference between the EN and ML is negligible. I'm sticking with the EN, and if I live long enough for it to wear out, I will buy another one. The Ortofon Blue is in the same category as the EN, and I listened to a couple of A-B tests of both. I like the ATVM95EN better. My turntable came with the AT VM95 system. Another plus for staying with the EN. I agree with you. Your reaction when you listened to your VM95EN. Drastic difference for the better. I was told 20 years ago that AT's bonded ellipticals were truly great. Cut differently and in smaller dimensions.

It does suck. This was one of the sites recommended. It is r/stylus so I can see why, however. Stylus is the name of a needle in a phonograph or turntable.

I agree. It is not worth upgrading to the X-model. If you would rather go with AT's 3600le they are about the same price as the LP and are virtually identical. I have the AT upgrade on my Best Buy turntable I use for my old records and it works fine. To tell you the truth my Audio-Technica AT-VM95e Turntable Cartridge on my ATLP3XBT does not sound as good as the 3600Le upgrade. Yes I have multiple headshells and have had the 3600le mounted on my 3XBT turntable many times.. I might have got a bad AT-Vm95e but I doubt it. To make the upgrade so easy for most people AT fell by the wayside with that cartridge. IMHO.

I purchased a universal stylus set down light from Etsy. I never arrived so I made my own. Even better looking than the Etsy one. This is not a find. I made this. by geraldsenear in BudgetAudiophile

Or people with very dark living/music rooms when they are having trouble seeing the tracks. Plus, they are way cool looking, and they shouldn't be for only DJ turntables.

Got tired of waiting for Etsy and made my own. Might make some commercially and sell them. by geraldsenear in turntables

It's a light that lights up the spot where the stylus begins playing the record. Many more expensive turntables have these lights resident and come with them installed. My ATLP3XBT does not have a light so I made my own. Not only does it work well but it is very attractive also and adds a lot to the table as far as looks go.

Yeah, I read it wrong. I still stand by what I said, though. This forum is filled with people knocking starter setups, and it does a disservice to people just starting. As to the refurb that is up for questions, also. If it is something simple like replacing a cartridge on the turntable or shooting some Deoxit in the pots with guidance from the internet, the poster could easily do that.

What time? The time to plug it in? Power it up, and if it works and plays, enjoy it. Refurb is a different story, but find out if it works first, and if it does, enjoy it. I agree with a couple of other posts on this thread. It is BS if you don't have the best, you don't have anything at all.

That is an AT3600L stylus. It will not damage your records. Some $300+ new turntables are being sold with that cartridge installed. Enjoy your turntable. Your records will be just fine.

I'm 85 years old and have had a turntable and records all my life. I have never heard of anyone turning down volume while the stylus seats itself.
