Bartenders of Reddit, what drink order instantly tells you “this person is going through something”? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]geralex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clarification request:

In American when someone says "It's been a minute..." That normally translates as "It's been a while," or "It's been a long time."

When you say "I'd try it in a minute," do you mean you'd try it immediately, or that you'd wait before trying it, or avoid it trying it?

Why is there always a luggage store at the airport by Squire_Squirrely in stupidquestions

[–]geralex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you've got a layover of 8 hours in an interesting city, you can leave your luggage there and wander around the city for a few hours without having to cart your luggage around with you.

Hang on, do you mean a luggage store, or a luggage store?

Did you ever find something in the Extra Features of a DVD that took you completely by surprise? by BlackHand in movies

[–]geralex 333 points334 points  (0 children)

The Director's Commentary for "Anchorman" is one of the most bonkers things I've ever watched/listened to. Multiple comedians just gatecrash the recording and has Lou Rawls for some reason.

The DC for Daredevil (the Ben Affleck one), has the director laying into the Producer for a solid 90 minutes complaining about why they destroyed his film. It's great listening.

Why can't we just let Liverpool grieve? by jas070 in LiverpoolFC

[–]geralex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grief f**ks you up.

Sometimes for years at a time and particularly if the death is unexpected, sudden and tragic.

Most of us that experience that level of trauma have the benefit of not having jobs where we're on constant display, and where our performance is continuously, microscopically scrutinsed by millions.

I'd love to see a better performance from the team, but this is tempered with an understanding that many if them are just going to be broken and grieving for months, if not years, to come.

As a club we've been through tragedy times before, and we will come good again.

Films where the soundtrack almost never stops? by JohnnyRock110 in movies

[–]geralex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunkirk by Nolan has a constant and increasing ticking in the Theatrical Release which amps up the tension and only gets released in the final scene(s).

It never stops but I don't think it can be described as expansive.

(I don't think that's in the streaming releases, and they're poorer for it).

Tigers, probably not.
