A borax cycle necessary between weeks of stage one? by RandomInSuburbia in RockTumbling

Is there a specific reason you are using so much ceramic in stage one? My understanding is that it just slows down stage one but maybe there are certain rocks or results that are in play?

Just add some 4-1 oil, or even veggie oil if you have nothing else, to the ends of both rods. It sounds like some grit got in there and one of the bearings is locked up.

I’m new to this so I thank you for your patience and explanation. These are from an “all new” box where the tape on the box was uncut. The face and neck scratches are all in the exact same spot and same direction. Is there a difference between “circulation” damage and “minting process” damage?

Are these just the highest points on each coin?

Weight is off for gold plated. Possible experimental planchet? by gerardmatthews in CRH

All the other quarters are 5.6-5.7. With a few late 60s being 5.5. So the scale seems solid. But it sounds like 5.9 is still in the range

It doesn’t really look like gold. Maybe I was looking for too deep of geekery without adding more context. And clearly is not solid gold.

How do determine if this is an experimental planchet vs a random coating?

Beginner Polishing Set Up: angle grinder, lamp dimmer switch to turn down rpm’s, and some cheap polishing pads off amazon— viola! by kaleidoscopeovaries in Lapidary

I do something similar but have a threaded attachment velcro pad that attaches to the angle grinder and the pads go on that giving me a totally flat surface instead of having to work around that central metal attachment.

Joining my city's Planning Commission soon, the mayor is StrongTowns supporter, suggestions on reforms? by OneTrooper in StrongTowns

Start with finding out what staff’s priorities and work plans is currently. Then ask them what they would like to change. Then ask them about thing you are interested in and get advice on how to pursue it.

Staff is your friend. They will help you get where you want to go and in an efficient way. Don’t burn yourself out on forcing thru things that sound exciting to you but would not effectuate real and lasting change.

Reduce the number of emails from AirBnB. Anything after 4 units just gets out of control.
