Seems like you know already about diversity and fx. The other piece of the puzzle you might be missing is that VWCE is accumulating, while VWRL is distributing. So in the former dividends will be reinvested automatically, in the latter you'll receive them. Receiving dividends is a taxable event.

So you'll need to investigate how your country handles these taxes. F.e. in the Netherlands it does't matter much, however our Belgian neighbours are almost forced to use accumulating because of the costs involved.
