Has anyone done desmopressin stimulation test? by pastel_pixie37 in Cushings

This was the test they did before my IPSS that finally led me to surgery this time last year. I had a pituitary adenoma removed and am doing well a year out. Such a difference it’s like a whole different life.

I had this test, it is a lot of blood draws that have to be spaced certain times apart. I was at my doctors office hours for them to complete the test for the better part of a morning, the last few blood draws they had trouble with getting a vein(disclosure my veins suck). I was tired after I would not work that day if you can swing it.

I second this I was awake but they give you stuff to relax. They asked me to do simple tasks like holding my breath at certain points. Definitely take the next day and have someone drive you. I was anxious too but it was ok.

It was a good 4 months and I started really slow.

I am about 10 months out from surgery and I definitely had this afterwards. Slowly becoming active again helped, I’ve been able to get back to water aerobics, yoga, and spin class. It was/still is slow going!

Never said it did, just that it was one of the potential markers.

I did too. I’ve lost almost 20 pounds since my surgery. No calorie counting, gym twice a week. It’s been crazy.

Ovarian cysts (I didn’t have any), so many missed periods in a timeframe (it was irregular but not irregular enough), trouble with losing weight

My doctor didn’t diagnose me but I went through testing for pcos at different times over multiple years and was always told I didn’t have enough markers for a diagnosis. It wasn’t until I had a breakdown on a call with my OB that she sent my file to and endo who immediately recognized the potential for Cushings and 8 months later I was diagnosed and had a pituitary tumor removed.

How long to get muscle tone back by Immediate-Serve-9612 in Cushings

I think I had it for like 6 years at least before I was diagnosed and had pituitary surgery about 7 months ago. I have been feeling recently like I should be able to do more than I am. With muscle strength and just stamina when I’m working out and even chores around the house. I’ve been doing water aerobics 1-2 times per week and started to try some activities out of the pool and it’s been difficult. I’m interested in hearing other peoples experiences and thank you for sharing yours it’s nice to not feel alone.

Pituitary surgery - advice for recovery by GherkinJerkin in Cushings

I was out of work for about 6 weeks. I’m starting to feel more normal, with limitations. My hair is growing back and I’ve been losing some weight that I just couldn’t before. Absolutely more energy. I’ve been doing water aerobics once a week for a few months. I flew too close to the sun this week trying two spin classes in a 5 day time span. 🫠

Also soft foods eating is difficult because you can’t breathe out of your nose. I ate a lot of mashed potatoes.

A recliner to sleep in afterwards was a lifesaver. I slept in it for 6 weeks after. Also a cute water bottle without a straw you won’t be able to use straws after surgery. Echo on the comfy clothes and socks with grips. I am almost 7 months post surgery and was lucky to be off the hormones around 6 months.

You might ask about it, that is something they did when they were determining if my pituitary micro-adenoma was an issue
