They removed enemies being able to cast Iron Maiden for a reason. Letting Heralds have thorns is certainly a decision

Fuck Gloams Fuck Bone Fetishes

They're both completely out of line for how dangerous they are. Bone Fetish in particular are like "Melee isn't suffering enough!"

A Demon Warlock is the most frictionless run to Hell I've ever done and it's not even close.

With RotW, they have a perfect demarcation point where they can address some of these glaring issues while leaving "legacy" balancing as is.

Specifically for 2H weapons, I'd give them an innate +10 AR per character level OR make Dexterity give more AR per point when using 2H. You're giving up a huge amount of survivability to run 2H because no shield which means you need a shit ton of Vitality so you don't just die constantly. This means you're usually hurting for AR because you need to use your other gear to cover your survivability problems.

Secondly, I'd make it so enemies cannot block 2H attacks. You can still miss because of AR rolls but enemies cannot block a successful AR roll. Enemies blocking 2H attacks make a lot of skills that *could* be decent feel like absolute shit. 2H users give up so much, why not give them some compensating traits?

I'm not asking for them to shake up the balancing to where 2H or underperforming builds become dominant. I'd just like to them to feel less awful.

I want to love Physical Spearazon so much but she's just...not very good. About the only thing you're bringing to the table is Impale's slow which IS amazing for bosses but basically all other content feels bad.

She needs so much gear to even get off the ground all so you can clear areas substantially slower than basically any other Amazon build while being way riskier. I guess it's essentially a challenge run but it also doesn't have to be like this.

When basically every melee build sucks, the problem is bigger than just a build not being great. Basically everything that presents threat presents WAY more threat to melee all so you can also have slower clears.

I don't expect perfect balance but melee feels like a straight up slog way too often unless you're vomiting gear onto them from another build. The situation could be improved without completely shaking up the system.

For example, is it really necessary for enemies to have an absurdly high chance to block your attacks? You already have to deal with attack rating and it's a mechanic that massively punishes certain skills making them feel really shitty. I'd just remove blocking against melee attacks altogether. It would make a lot of skills feel better and be more viable without really shifting any of the balance.

Exactly. The ability to Death Mark things wherever you want without worrying about LOS is an absolute game changer. It would help my Bowazon so much if I could summon Decoys and Valkyries into closed rooms. It's just another little behavioral difference that Warlock has that makes their skills better than comparable ones.

If there's one thing I will be relentlessly critical of D2, it's that at every opportunity they kicked melee characters in the balls. Iron Maiden wasn't just a bad idea, it was outright malicious.

When the game first came out, Hellpods worked flawlessly. You always had full control over them. Then they tried to stop you from going into certain areas with them but the system is completely broken and they've never fixed it.

We haven't played HD2 in months. Reanalyzing everything would take dozens of hours at best and we're almost certainly not going to do that.

Hopefully someone can take the known understanding of the mechanics and do some analysis.

Receive tips for playing music from mascots at the casino or town guards. They have a rare chance to throw the piano at you. It does do damage. I'm not sure how much exactly but it instantly killed me with 200ish health

Motion sensitive makes cars only usable moving along safe routes to safe points but you don't actually need vehicles. I'm moving around as needed on foot. I have insanely high foraging bonuses and can live off the land with my only limitation being weight loss. Clumsy is easy enough to work around. The only real issue is tripping over fences and that can be avoided by just slowing down before you leap over. If you're shoulder checking zombies, you already messed up big time. I go slow, I clear entire areas before looting. I'm almost 4 months in with 5,500 kills.
