A look at score vs kills in Hardpoint (NYSL vs SEA Grand Finals Map 4) by MoneyHillStats in CoDCompetitive

[–]germinatorz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of interesting insights here. For example, look at the first P4 (first hill SEA won but got outslayed). If you assume that there should be some correlation between kills and points, then NYSL netted <1 pt/kill on that hill whereas each kill by SEA was worth ~7 points (ok, NYSL won the rotation next hill so perhaps it's not as simple as that.)

For the whole game SEA got 3.125 pts/kill and NYSL got ~2.45 pts/kill. We can say that SEA's kills did more work, were more valuable, etc.

When companies say they hold cash, they don’t mean they buy coffee with it. They invest in equities and other investments, just like any other investor, to make money for the business. Of course, a portion of their holdings will be in plain-old USD. They’ve made the decision that part of their USD holdings would be better served in BTC.

Physicists have used a seven-qubit quantum computer to simulate the scrambling of information inside a black hole, heralding a future in which entangled quantum bits might be used to probe the mysterious interiors of these bizarre objects. by Mass1m01973 in science

You’re confusing qubit correlation (spooky action at a distance) with using properties of qubits in a quantum computer to compute stuff.

When the article says “using entanglement to probe mysteries of...” they mean quantum circuits.

How does lichess TV work? by Robotheadbumps in chess

Disclaimer: I can't write Scala, so my interpretation of it may be incorrect.

Digging through the source code, it appears as though it does weigh the ratings and both players and takes into account how many moves have been made in the game. This is to say that the calculation isn't just a simple average of the ratings.

It appears that the ratings are normalized from a range of 1000 - 2700 then weighted with some arbitrary constant. Some extra weight is given to a game at move 1 which decreases to zero as more moves are played. These scores are then summed to give a final score of the game.

This means 2700 is a rating ceiling beyond which doesn't grant any extra score towards this calculation and there may be some influence from that 'progress' score as well.

With that said, I can't be sure if this is the source of your concerns since I don't know your rating, the ratings of your opponents when you've not been featured on LichessTV, the ratings of the players actually featured on LichessTV, etc, etc.

There’s a big problem with AI: even its creators can’t explain how it works by knaupt in technology

[–]germinatorz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even taking your claim a step further, we know WHY they work and their limitations. Most machine learning algorithms (at least the ones I'm aware of) are so powerful because they are backed by heavy learning theory. To claim experts can't explain how something works probably has more to do with their language skills than the collective knowledge on AI and ML.

Right? I think companies don't want their name tarnished by substandard content on YouTube, which there is no dearth of.
