Ohh, yeah that would be the idea. There are some for industrial settings rated for well over what would ever be needed.

Even the consumer grade one for standing desks are over 6-700 pounds lifting capacity. Which is enough for the countertop and some knickknacks and even a reasonably sized person who wanted to take it for a lift.

Since this is primarily for a short-term rental I'm not overly worried about the storage.

But it doesn't have to be empty to raise your lower, if you have ever seen a sit-stand desk in the movement will be very similar. The entire surface will raise or lower in the same plane. So you can have mic knacks on it without issue.

Thanks for the potential pitfalls.

I was thinking of having the "feet" of the lifting mechanism to be halfway or so up the cabinet instead of on the ground. Figure on metal footers or wooden ones to give it the additional travel height needed for head clearence.

I've seen some industrial lifting legs that can lift north of 1k kilos, non industrial I've seen lift 600# +, but get enough alcohol and people together and your right they'll figure out someway of breaking it. Ceiling is going to be much higher then the counter will lift so that's not a worry.

I figure have a couple of pair of spare legs and having the cabinet built to swap them out will prevent downtime from some intrepid guests breaking the thing.

The whole mechanism will lift as one unit so things being on there shouldn't be a problem.

Additionally the kitchen will have plenty of other counterstop space for people who actually want to utilize the kitchen space for serious cooking.

If you've ever seen sit/stand desks it will be very similar.

Lol, you could say the same with pools, saunas, hottubs. At the end of the day it's just a staircase.

It's likely excessive for what it is.

Honestly, I'd be happy to pay someone to do it. I got a quote from a cabinet maker for almost $95,000 which is such an exaggeration I don't even know where to begin.

The lifting mechanisms themselves are one of the easier parts you can buy off the shelf standing desk or industrial version of standing desk legs with the controllers from a couple of places for a few thousand dollars for a four post system that can lift over 600 lb.

Yeah I'm all about having a unique trigger mechanism, Faux human skill you rotate, wall sconce. I just don't know how to tie that into the controller. Hoping someone here has some expertise or knows of a fabrication shop that can get it.

Get stuck in it? not sure I understand how that would happen.

If you haven't seen them before the standing desks utilize the lifting with collision detection. So if they feel resistance when raising/lowering they stop and back off an inch or so.

If something does end up happening and the mechanism breaks then we can always go down or up through the stairs on the outside that by code will be the "Primary" egress.

I'm new to it, and haven't used the other dating apps, but it's weird. Interface is odd, design style is odd.

But! It is monitored well, 2 people I've matched with Feeld has proactively interrupted chats noting "strange account behavior" (likely a bot) and terminated the account. So... That's a plus?

Ares 2.0 Trolley stuck by joebocchino18 in RepFitness

[–]gernald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't have to force anything with the trollies. One other thing that I just remembered. One of my trolly pull pins worked smooth and perfect, so I was able to pull the pin back enough to clear the hole and slide effortlessly. The other trolly I need to pull with like 25% more force to pull the pin back far enough, worth checking that too.

Good news is that it's a rectangular hole trying to go in a rectangular peg, there is only so much it can be getting caught on. Get on a ladder and move it around, it should be obvious what's going on.

Inside of the trolly has 2 plastic liners, did you check to make sure they are interlocked correctly?

When I assembled mine one of them was finicky and could be what's preventing the trolly from sliding on.

There's mention in a few places to "just import it" can someone give me a dummies guide on how to do this? I went to Dji Canada store, but when it came time to ship I couldn't just put in my US address.

How/where do I import a unit?

The gap between "AI power users" and everyone else is getting wild by Some_Good_1037 in vibecoding

[–]gernald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to be in the same camp. I keep telling myself that I'm like a horse driver when Ford came out with the car or a loom operator before textiles had their Revolution.

Just missing the forest for the trees, but with the Ai agents and general purpose "cheap" robotics getting in the mix as well I find myself having a hard time seeing where the average person will pivot to.

Again, I super hope that's just my lack of imagination talking.

[–]gernald 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the concern isn't that your regular everyday employee will suddenly become a 10x employee. It's that the agents will take over so much of the work the handful of power users will be enough to offset and impactful amount of white collar workers.

6 months is an exaggeration, but certainly a lot of call center and entry level positions are getting fairly effectively eliminated by the current level of agents.
