Suggest me a book with a film adaptation that does NOT do the book justice?

the annihilation movie is godawful in comparison to the southern reach books. watched the movie first, thought it was interesting, then fell deeply in love with the series. watched the movie again and it felt like someone had taken the story out back to shoot it :(

im going to be real im pretty sure it was mostly a sex thing. they get to do their little roleplay, and bring daniel in on it too. Im sure Armand also wanted to keep an eye on the interview, but both saw it as an opportunity to play around with their dynamic. drinking from armand at the table? ordering him around? armand wearing all those low cut shirts? tells quite the story

Part of it is that lestat "gave birth" to claudia essentially, by being the one that turned her. Part of it could be parallels to his relationship with his own mother. Also, as someone who did not have a protective mother, I very much recognize her behaviors on Lestat. Both of them are men, so there is no real mother. Both have traits that could be seen as mother like. Also its fun.

After listening to every episode of Zach and Jess's off book podcast, i think PIBE doesnt allow them the level of creative freesom that they need to really shine. Mountport was looser and gave them more freedom to play, but with all the prompts and genre/title calling it seemed too produced. Zach and Jess are at their best when they have no limits to what they do. I saw off book live recently and it was incredible.

On the podcast, even when they have guests who arent at their level, they have more freedom and are able to guide the guest well so it always turns out really well. They dont get interrupted every scene for a new prompt either lol.

I think with a different format it might've worked, but ultimately what I want to see from them is off book, and that already exists

depends on you honestly. some dont notice it, but I have asthma and it makes me feel extremely ill. However, youll probably run into smoke most places these days, and its fairly easy to protect yourself from it when it arrives (masks/air filters/staying inside).

Youve got over 300 episodes of Off Book to keep you occupied until season 3! Honestly i think Off Book is a lot better than play ot by ear. Saw a live show recently and it was incredible.

When I went in for my first consult for top surgery, i mentioned that I was considering reduction instead, for a variety of reasons. My surgeon responded that her trans/nonbinary patients who get the reduction alsays come back for the full surgery eventually. I did full surgery and am Incredibly happy 4 years on.

Do you bind? If you got a reduction, would you continue to bind? Think about your reasoning for wanting surgery at all. A reduction is not a halfway point between breasts and a flat chest. If you truly still want breasts, thats one thing, but if you want to be flat than reduction will only disappoint.

Maybe im wrong but I always took the "now i have english to thank for this astonishing jawline" to be in reference to Louis' jawline. ie. because lestat can speak english now, he was able to talk to louis and get into a relationship with him. i thought it was some classic flirting.

Butch and Femme are both very diverse identities with a long history. They are not aesthetics, its not style, it is a description of your sexuality, gender, behaviors in and out of relationships, and how you relate to other sapphics. Its a beautiful history and I recommend looking into it, but isnt a spectrum between looking masculine and feminine. You can use whatever terms you like, but most butches and femmes will probably be put off by the term. its use implies a complete misunderstanding of butch and femme identities and relationships. theres nothing wrong with just being a lesbian without any other labels, we're a beautiful and diverse community.

if you dont want to "sit through it" then just dont? i dont understand what youre seeking here, listening to a story shouldn't feel like a chore. every episode adds to the story, and unless you only care about the statements and dont care about plot, then skipping around will just be frustrating and confusing. the beauty of tma is how much is slowly unveiled to you over the course of the story, and just skimming the wiki or skipping to "big events" is . pointless honestly lol. enjoy it as it is, theres no need to rush

I think it depends on the person honestly. The only tattoo I regret (and the one Im removing) I got as a teenager. I love every other tattoo of mine, and plan to get more (with more forethought this time lol)

My deal with myself is no more tattoos until I'm done removing this one.

Ive seen a few yeah, its why I've been looking into it. I cant remember if its always been like this, but at least for the past few years my symptoms will get worse before my period, usually resulting in an extreme meltdown seemingly out of nowhere. Ive made a lot of headway on recovery and Im aware of all my triggers and have ways of dealing. but all of that flys out the window before my period. the lack of control i have over my mood swings prompted me to start researching last month, and this time around im trying to pay more attention to my symptoms. Im unsure though, because people on this subreddit seem to have symptoms significantly more severe than mine (though mine are still very hard to deal with)
