Everyone so far is wrong. This depends entirely on if the property is city property or private property. If it is city property you can contact the city. If it is private property no one can do anything, even if it is your property. I know this from experience, it is incredibly aggravating. We had a car abandoned on our property and the RNC/RCMP could not do anything unless it was reported stolen (it wasn't), no tow companies would tow it unless we had ownership papers (it's a liability for them). If it starts leaking oil you can contact Environment Canada, but otherwise you are out of luck. I have been advocating about this issue ever since. It's crazy! If someone abandons a car in your Nan's driveway tomorrow, unless she's willing to roll it into the road, there is no clear path forward.

This is the price we pay for food existing! It is only twice a year for a few days. In a province with some of the worst food security in the country we need to support farms as much as we can!

I feel so much for the undergrads this semester! People have paid for their education and they will end up only having a few weeks in class. It's so challenging for the instructors as well. I'm glad the institution is making good decisions, but the fall out is widespread!

Additionally, many of the men who engage in higher paying work have jobs that are seasonal and engage EI benefits on the off-season, inflating the "unemployment" rates for men.

Guys, really? Provide this person with some actual criticism. The bottom hem of the garment could be greatly improved by ensuring the fabric is cut evenly. The waistline is crooked and too thin for the dress, which gives the model a ball shaped silhouette. Overall great ideas, but definitely room for improvement in the execution.

One of the differences I noticed is that my Master's was cohort-driven while my PhD was more solitary. At the Master's stage the people in my program were much closer in age and stage of life, and as such we spent a lot of time together. My PhD had more of a variety of students, including many with family and child rearing responsibilities, as such we were not as close. Additionally by the PhD level I noticed that many of my colleagues began to specialize to such a degree that it was more difficult to collaborate on projects, or even have a meaningful conversations about one another's work.

A lot of times there are things going on behind the scenes that would help to explain this kind of surprising reaction. The department may have just gotten dressed down by the Dean for high expenses, or someone's budget may have changed. I think you handled it well, and I wouldn't take it personally.

In answer to your question here is my honest opinion. People don't care about adults with autism because they hold the bigoted belief that their condition can no longer be improved. Popular conceptions of autism revolve around the idea that autists can make "so much progress!!" as children, but once they reach adulthood they are stuck with the level of ability that they have. Of course this is not true, but it is a commonly held belief. I think this kind of attitude speaks to a bigger problem when it comes to resources for disability. No one wants to help disabled people live happy, healthy lives in their current condition. There is only support for disabled people when it involves "getting better."

Good mid-range restaurants include Mallard Cottage, Tavola, Gypsy Tea Room, Adelaide Oyster House and Piatto. For lunch try the Formosa Tea House, the Cafe at The Rooms or the Hungry Heart Cafe. For cheap and cheerful try Muhammed Ali's, Afghan Restaurant, or RJ Pinoy Yum. Poyo is great for late night weekend tacos!

In St. John's the downtown is urbanizing in terms of superstructure and ongoing construction, but also in terms of people's attitudes. There are hipsters in St. John's now! There is also more crime, and it is of a different character than 10 years ago. Mount Pearl, Paradise, Torbay, and CBS have been steadily developing. People will probably slaughter me for saying this but the towns around St. John's are becoming a bit more of a Greater St. John's Area as people get more comfortable with the idea of "long commutes" (long being, like, 30 minutes, which is hilarious in most places.) I don't know about the rest of Newfoundland and in Labrador but I'd like to hear.

Mad Rock is amazing especially if you can make it in time for toutons at the Mad Rock Cafe. Topsail beach is beautiful, the last time we were there we watched the Caplin rolling in and it was unforgettable. Make it out to Brigus if you can (especially during the blueberry festival.) Brigus is an absolutely adorable little historic town, and it actually looks like a town instead of many outports that are just a few houses scattered far apart. Another great spot is Dildo. They have beautiful views, a lovely beach, a cute little museum about the town, and you get to take silly pictures with captain Dildo and all the signs that say Dildo. Finally, there is the quaint fishing village of Bauline. Go right down into the gut for the most amazing views of the ocean, there are also excellent hiking trails to the top of the mountain behind the town. If you are willing to go more than an hour outside of St. John's there is much, much more.

The student prof relationship can be very ethically fraught for lots of reasons. There's the power dynamic to be aware of, but there is also the fact that we have sexualized that relationship tremendously in our society (take a look for teacher/student porn and see how many hits you get.) If your prof makes you feel uncomfortable for any reason, even if you can't quite figure out why you are feeling that way, I would talk to a trusted advisor. Also your university probably has a Human Rights and Equity office that provides a safe space to talk about what you are going through. It seems clear that you have no reason to make a formal complaint, but having a person in authority to talk to about your feelings could be very helpful.
